Good home wanted for appletree blanket

I made this blanket for Giddykipper's ds and it was exceedingly nice but very expensive.
So, when I did one for my dd's new baby I got some Jaeger Roma, which was equally nice and much cheaper, BUT... it must be handwashed.
I have spoken to dd and she says that, terrible as it sounds, she doesn't want baba to get attached to a blanket that must be handwashed. I think this is most reasonable, so I have a spare appletree blanket up for grabs. The cost, including postage is £20. It will be up for a week and if there is more than one request I will put the names on pieces of paper and ask dh to draw one.

Ooh what a shame. I still have the first pattern done on mine lol but I used cheap wool that can be machine washed/tumble dried. Its a tough one to knit but im sure you could do another for your dd in a washable wool? Although personally I wouldn't bother

DutchOma · 04/12/2008 12:01

That's what I'm planning to do, Soremummy. Although now that I have the baby blanket book, I might do another one, but as you say in a yarn that can be easily washed and maybe even tumble dried.

I still would like to find a good home for this one

What's an appletree blanket??

beagle101 · 04/12/2008 12:16

I would absolutely love it! Defeintely put my name into the hat (as I am sure you will have loads of people wanting to buy it!)- I wish I could knit (or in fact had one single artistic done in my body) but everything I try is shambolic .

beagle101 · 04/12/2008 12:17

Hmm - I really should preview before posting - that should be definitely!

florenceuk · 04/12/2008 12:19

A blanket with this motif on it: here - here's another: here

Dutchoma, if you look on Ravelry some people have machine-washed that yarn - worth a go on a gentle wash maybe?

DutchOma · 04/12/2008 12:24

Yes, I know Florence, but I know what it's going to be like once the new baby is there and I don't want her to have bad feelings about not looking after it. Apart from anything else it is a wonderful excuse to do another blanket
Beagle101, you're in the hat . Actually it is a large Greek yoghurt pot.

DutchOma · 04/12/2008 12:58

Yep, two in there now.

SoupDragon · 04/12/2008 13:13

Blimey, that's beautiful. I have no need for it though, no more SmallDragons

EachPeachPearMum · 04/12/2008 13:16

Oh no- Roma is handwash only???? I have loads of it to use.... it's so gorgeous and soft, and I was going to make blankets.....
Doh!

what colourway did you use DutchOma?

EffiePerine · 04/12/2008 13:18

Can I ask to be considered as well? That is a beautiful pattern and there's no way I'd finish it myself for DC2 . Am fine with handwashing baby stuff, I handwash all my handknits anyway.

EffiePerine · 04/12/2008 13:19

(btw it's WonkyKnitter here, so I think I've seen the photos of the RL blanket and it is LOVELY)

DutchOma · 04/12/2008 14:17

It's a creamy white, so was the other one that I did for Giddykipper, I think that was called chicory.

EachPeachPearMum · 04/12/2008 14:29

Are they on ravelry? ('tis Malachi here btw)

DutchOma · 04/12/2008 15:14

Yes, just put the second one on, are you in my friends? Am I in yours?

EachPeachPearMum · 04/12/2008 15:43

I don't know! I am in Mumsknitters though

DutchOma · 04/12/2008 16:38

You're in my friends now

DutchOma · 05/12/2008 17:29

EachPeachPearMum · 06/12/2008 23:35

Oh - it's gorgeous DutchOma!

Just don't think I can face the handwash thing though- don't seem to do any handwashing now and thats before DC2 arrives in Jan!

DutchOma · 07/12/2008 14:47

That's exactly how dd feels about it EPPM and why it has gone up for grabs.

Last day for putting your name in the Greek yoghurt pot. There are three names in there already, the winning name will be drawn at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning, so it can still go in the post before the weekend.

beagle101 · 10/12/2008 18:48

Oooh - getting excited now! If it is me that gets pulled out out of that yoghurt pot I am taking dd out tomorrow morning for a girlie morning and choosing xmas pressies for her grandparents so won't be able to log on until after lunch but will log on as soon as poss!

DutchOma · 10/12/2008 20:37
