Twims they are fantastic, you don't mess about do you?

I am definately going to make them as christmas pressies now they have had a trial run.

For actual use (by very young children) do you think a circle would be the best shape? I quite fancy doing cut outs but I think they may be hard to hold. Opinions?

I was bored WTWTW and now don't have to buy a present for a young cousin

Really was simple 150 degrees, 6 minutes, then pace on side for 2-3 minutes then into the freezer, 30 minutes later they just pop out of the tin case - thought they'd need help but they just popped out

Agree about holding them if you do the sut out method I would say use a loaf tin or a something to give it some depth and then use a round biiscuit cutter to make them like chunky crayons or you could pour the melted mixtures into ice lolly moulds to set in the freezer that might make it easier to hold

OOOh twims, they look good. I had a thought, if they are for gifts maybe add a bit of glitter, reckon it'd work?

Twims · 06/11/2008 16:11

I was thinking about glitter, but think youd have to add glitter after melting before they set or freeze.

I LOVE that Twims went to do it today! They look great, I wanna try now. I had a thought, if you were doing them for birthdays, you could use alphabet cutters and do the childs name, or number cutters....you can get cutters quite cheap on amazon.....do you think this would work with plastic cutters? Wilkos do really cheap plastic cutters.....

We've had new crayons from old, although not intentionally. The dog ate loads of dd's crayons and shat rainbow poo for days. They were the right shape, too, but dd was strangely reluctant to use them.

Twims · 06/11/2008 21:47

Love that idea Geraldine! )

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/11/2008 21:56

Brilliant - a pressie dd can make for her cousins out of her old crappy crayons - hooray - thanks

The ebay link has a set by one stop craft shop, if you go into the shop they have sets of christmas cutters (trees, angles, stars etc)

They look fab Califrau!

I am combining the idea with the "Things to do each day of advent" idea. I have got all the bits together and the first weekend in December the children will be set to to make ones in Christmas shapes with glitter. The next day I will get them to bag them up with ribbony ties and Christmas tags. Hey presto, presents for all the nursery friends

NCbirdy · 07/11/2008 19:51

Sorry, I really should pick my own describing words.... They look super!

mamadiva · 07/11/2008 23:50

Lotster · 10/11/2008 17:54

They look great Califrau! Am also interested in the state of the pan afterwards..

Also, can you give tips on getting out of the pan without damaging them, an what point is best to do it?
