Whatcha doin? What are your plans? I need some inspo. It's been a long time since i've approached my machine for various reasons.My favourite ever make has been a stretch dress, i'd wear it all the time if I could. I live in fear of the day I try to go to Barry's fabrics and it's gone. The Birmingham fabric scene is being decimated. What'll I do?!

If the fraying gets too much would a bit of fray-stop work @Mygreyhair? I’ve never tried it but have often seen it mentioned.

I found the G&G Bauhaus fabric (viscose crepe). There’s 2 metres of it, so enough for a shirt. While looking for it, I got distracted by 1.4 metres of tencil twill. It doesn’t really go with anything in my wardrobe but I’m tempted to try and make something with that first. It’s one of those fabrics that seems to have been languishing in my stash forever.

I must have trimmed my seams too close to the seam line on my recent top; when I took it out of the washing machine the fabric had escaped the bias binding and frayed 🙄 I can redo them but it’s really annoying!

I am thinking of making a custom bike cover for my electric bike. Does anyone have experience sewing with 100% waterproof polyester canvas?
It will just be so easier to get it on and off and will encourage me to use the bike in the winter.

I’m home from holiday tonight so might see if I have the energy tomorrow to fix my issues with the toile I was making a month or so ago…but then again I might just do the washing and flop!

What I need to do is add a panel to the front of the skirt pieces - I cut them too small - so that they fit the bodice waist seam.

It’s only an alterations-to-pattern toile but I’d like it to be wearable if possible. The fabric is a viscose though so is very mobile and hard to keep straight. Fingers crossed the actual dress will be better when I cut it in a nice stable linen!

ETA it’s the me and miss Moore feel good dress.

I have. I made new cushions for outside seating. I was actually surprised with how well it sewed.

I have just made new bits for our ( very vintage) garden chairs inherited from my in laws. It sewed up nicely . DH has assembled one already . Dont know if it would be quite the same , as I bought the canvas a couple of years ago , waiting for time yo dismantle the old bits to use as s pattern .

I haven't got much done this week. I have one week before I go away to finish my skirt,ale a few repairs and makey bestie bag. It should be doable.

I’ve cut out a Roxie t-shirt to sew tomorrow evening. I should have enough fabric to make two but I want to check the fit first. Then if it’s all good I might also use it as a scrap buster for all the annoying leftover bits of jersey in my stash.

I printed off the Paper Theory Stevie Knickers pattern yesterday, but even though my little test square is correct, the back of the pants look enormous. I was inspired by GBSB and downloaded this as a scrap buster.

I’ve made Sozo’s freebie pants in the past and they are a good fit (gusset is a bit wide for me). Haven’t tried the Stevies.

I could do with making some more pants; all of mine are getting a bit old and losing their stretch. I bought some boy short-style ones from M&S but the elastic has zero recovery so they just ride up. Need to add elastic to them - did this for the previous set I bought and it worked really well but it irritates me that I have to do this because M&S have cut corners. The jersey is really thin now too, poor quality.

@Mygreyhair @bookbook I went ahead and purchased some fabric, in a sensible grey.
I am going ask around to see if I can find an old bed sheet or duvet to make a toile.

I have had this cotton fabric for a couple of years, was sort of cut out as a pool top but only tacked together. Saturday night I decide to make it into a beach kaftan based on the zero waste towel kaftan I made.
I had to patch in some fabric on the shoulders. Really pleased with it and enjoyed using the overlocker.

@Frumpyunicorn I really want to try a Bestie bag but I just cba with PDF patterns!

@DiggoryVenn I have made different pattern pants ( wonder undies by waves and wild) , and they looked enormous , but actually fitted really nicely . Bought ones use material with a lot more stretch , so they just look smaller!= I suspect

I had visions of a bright pink bike cover @Isabelle70 which would have been fun, but grey is definitely a sensible option.

I’ve made a few more t-shirts over the past week (New Look 6216) and searched through my patterns for a woven top that uses 1.4 metres or less. I’ve settled on the Deer & Doe Melilot. I have made it once before, but it was a snug fit, so I’m going up a size for this one.

It looks like I have just enough fabric to make the long sleeved version, which surprised me as 1.4 metres is recommended for the (very) short sleeved version. Fingers crossed it works, as a long sleeved shirt would be much more useful for me 🤞

I only use pdf patterns. I am plus size so struggle with regular pattern companies. I tend to get them printed in a0 but as this is a bag I will print it out at home.

I might have to see if my local fabric shop would print things for me. Does that then mean I wouldn’t have to stick it all together?!

Yep. A0 is about the size of my dining table!

I do it online, usually sending a batch over at a time. I use Flamingo prints, clc prints are good too.

I’ve only ever made one pair of pants, can’t remember the maker but it wasn’t any of those mentioned above. I agree, they look gigantic! It’s quite depressing. They are comfy though.

@CrimsonAlligator I so wanted to get pink, my Dd asked if I wanted to draw attention to it. No, but pink would have been much prettier!

Well , my chairs got finished. I would be totally happy if DH hadn’t stabbed himself with a screwdriver while putting the second seat on and bled all over the seat 🙄 ( luckily I managed to get it off quickly ! )

Aw , thanks @CrimsonAlligator , hes fine , it wasn't deep luckily . He has always been a so and so for injuring himself !
