We had a lovely time thanks, @LancreWowhawk ! We were in Galicia, which is an area we'd never been to, and which is a strangely unpopular destination for Brits, based on how few English voices we heard!

CrochetBug · 04/08/2023 09:40

@LancreWowhawk I've pattern tested for Ana-Maria a few times and her patterns are dreamy and easy to follow. I was eyeing up that raglan myself a while ago. But designed my own in it end. Really should finish it before the winter!

My friend who lives down the road invited me over yesterday. She was clearing out her garage which is full of stuff, including all her mums old things that she's finally ready to part with. I came home with some odd bags of yarn, some half knitted sleeves, a couple of knitted squares and half a dozen unopened copies of "the art of crochet"

MerylSqueak · 04/08/2023 10:20

Oh I'd love to pick your brains about Galicia @AllProperTeaIsTheft . It's where MIL is from but we've never been convinced about a place to holiday with teens and the flights looked awful. How did you manage?

LancreWowhawk · 04/08/2023 11:04

@CrochetBug Yes, as much as it looked a bit scary, I think at least part of that is because it is really, really comprehensive so there is A LOT of information. But if I take it step by step, it should, I think, be fine.

@GlowWine I know what you mean about the stripes! I'll give it a bit more thought, while I do my (totally pointless, because it won't actually match what happens when I start the garment) gauge swatch.

This is the yarn that I have. LoveCrafts are selling off all their Deramores very reasonably, so I'm tempted to pick up a couple more balls in a complementary colour to make it a bit more interesting, and also because I always, always run short.

@MerylSqueak We went with our 2 teens. Flew to Santiago de Compostela (from Edinburgh) and stayed in an Airbnb about 45 mins drive from there. Gorgeous beaches, pretty little towns, great seafood and tapas. It's less hot than most of Spain, so we avoided the heatwave and actually had a couple of grey days with a bit of drizzle (but I'd rather that than scorching weather!).

lucysmam · 04/08/2023 20:31

Ooh @GlowWine I hope your mum likes her shawl, it's very pretty.

I'm just sitting down to try my current row of the top I'm making again!. Flipping weeks this one row has been tormenting me. I know where the stitches want to go, and I know how to do them, and it counts right without them. Add flippin' stitches and I need an extra ch1 to put the last hdc in the right place 🤷‍♀️

lucysmam · 07/08/2023 20:36

I have finally nearly finished the neck and yoke of the Victorian Love top. There are still two more of the row that was confusing me, to be done though, so it may take a while. Hopefully not & I can whizz through the next 4 rows and get to the sleeves!

MerylSqueak · 07/08/2023 20:42

Ooh that's gorgeous @lucysmam

Ah! Edinburgh. That's even worse for us@AllProperTeaIsTheft but it makes sense

lucysmam · 07/08/2023 20:52

Thanks @MerylSqueak , I'm incredibly pleased with it after my false start when I was really ill & then struggling to get the hdc, ch1, sk1 row right for some reason.

I've put it down for tonight before I get over-confident & go wrong again 🤣

CrochetBug · 07/08/2023 20:56

That's lovely @lucysmam .

I've taken the plunge and ordered my custom yarn for my "for" blanket. Now I'm really worried ill hate it!

I've got about 10 rounds to go on my secret Wednesdays Window project. Then I'll be able to share a picture with you all. Unless I hate it Grin

lucysmam · 07/08/2023 21:01

Thanks @CrochetBug , I'll look forward to seeing both your yarn, and your finished window!

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 07/08/2023 21:02

I'm intrigued by the Wednesday's Window thing, @CrochetBug - I hope you don't hate it!
@lucysmam - that looks amazing! I just looked at the pics of the pattern on Ravelry and it's stunning.

I've finally got to the end of the back of dd's bottle green cable jumper- I'm just doing the decreases and bind off at the shoulders. Then it will be time to start again for the front. Without stupid mistakes this time, fingers crossed!

lucysmam · 07/08/2023 21:31

I almost forgot to ask - ignore the tiny size, I was testing for shape - is the shape of my "tree top" ok do you think? I'll make the actual ones bigger but needed a test run to make sure my plan sort of worked! I can't quite work out how to make the top more oval than squashed ball but think it'll look better when it's bigger...I hope 🤞

lucysmam · 08/08/2023 15:20

Taylor's looking good @bruffin ! I've been hunting round for a Speak Now cardi pattern for dd1 🤔

bruffin · 08/08/2023 15:26

Tjhanks@lucysmam
I reckon you could adapt the folklore one . The pattern is free on lion brand

lucysmam · 08/08/2023 15:29

@bruffin I'd have to learn to knit then though! I'm fairly sure there'll be a crochet one, or close enough, about somewhere. I've only been half looking because I've got all sorts of projects on the go atm.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 08/08/2023 16:17

Taylor is looking excellent, @bruffin ! And the granny square bag too! I need to eventually get around to doing something with my growing pile of squares...

Oh, yes! She is somewhere on the search tab I still have in the 97 open ones on my phone 🙈🤣 Good call!

LancreWowhawk · 14/08/2023 18:29

Wondering if this resonates with anyone? 😂

CrochetBug · 14/08/2023 18:38

If I only had the money and the space @LancreWowhawk Grin

lucysmam · 14/08/2023 19:38

🤣 @LancreWowhawk sounds like my week progressing atm...I've finished crochet tree tops & am about to start Colour Monsters, have 2 sewing projects and some simple alterations piled up to do, been watching knitting tutorials wondering whether I can make a better Speak Now cardi than I did Folklore 🤔 Chuck in a bit of paint stripping off a battered toy and then re-painting it...may as well add sheep & utilising their fleece into the mix too 🤷‍♀️

lucysmam · 14/08/2023 20:50

Can anyone help me work out how to make pointy ears on my colour monster(s)? Something like in the first pic that I'm using for inspiration, but my monsters are slightly bigger...I've got 3dc; then on the next row dc1, dc2tog, & slst x 3 back to fasten across the top - looks a bit pants though 🤔 Any ideas? Maybe I should have kept to the smaller size I started out with 🤷‍♀️
