@Fairislefandango that's so lovely!

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 14/07/2023 17:17

Awh, thats lovely @Fairislefandango! Smile What a nice present!

LancreWowhawk · 24/07/2023 10:12

The Maria top is finished! And just in time to show it to the person who gifted me the yarn this weekend. I have so say I am thrilled - it fits really well, and it is by far the most 'professional' looking thing I have made. I am looking forward to wearing it next weekend when I meet up with some friends.

I've decided to clear out some of my scrap yarn next with a scrappy basket. It's going quite well so far, but I am struggling a bit with sore fingers from working with tighter stitches. Does anyone have any tips for managing this, or do I just have to power through/do it in little bursts?

This is the one that I am doing:

That top looks great @LancreWowhawk , I love the colours. I think regular breaks and comfortable hooks are the key to working tight stitches (I've got a cheap version of clover amour).

I've gone back to my Wednesdays Window project. I'm not 100%happy. But rather than constantly frogging I'm trusting the process and seeing how it ends up. Which could be a terrible idea Hmm

Zippedydodah · 24/07/2023 12:39

@CrochetBug that looks intriguing, is it a blanket? I love the colours.

CrochetBug · 24/07/2023 12:44

@Zippedydodah it's going to (hopefully) be a shawl. I'm not posting a whole photo until it's done because I'm weird like that Grin
But the top edge hasn't gone to plan so if I hate it I'll be frogging and turning it into a rectangular wrap instead.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 24/07/2023 22:00

That’s lovely @LancreWowhawk! I love your colour choices!

Ooh, that’s interesting mixing the rainbow with black and white @CrochetBug, I would love to see it when it’s done. Is it your own design?

CrochetBug · 25/07/2023 13:08

@SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound yes, it's my own design. Having looked at what felt like a million shawls online I didn't like any of them. Well I liked them, but not for this project.

Have you seen Wednesday on Netflix? It's based on the window in that, and the yarn is a set I bought that's called 'Wednesday's Window'. One black and white ball, one rainbow.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 26/07/2023 21:18

Oh, I see @CrochetBug! That’s a great idea to translate that into crochet!

I’ve been messing around with band weaving and I’ve made a prototype watch strap. I’m going to do another one using card weaving next. I can do much neater, sharper edges using cards and it gives a sturdier fabric.

I’ve also got my loom refurbishment finished so I can wind up a warp for that and see how it goes Grin

tizwozliz · 28/07/2023 22:18

What are you struggling with @Mumtothreeandadog ?

When I did that sort of blanket it took a while before it started to look right, iykwim. In fact I think I frogged and started over at least once as I was convinced I'd gone wrong somewhere

bruffin · 29/07/2023 09:53

Hi havent been around for a while,so need to catch up Have only a sleeve to do for my caron cake jumper, made a few more baby hats and have started my first proper crochet project, a granny square bum bag

Mumtothreeandadog · 29/07/2023 11:43

tizwozliz just feel a bit intimated. Have only done granny squares

lucysmam · 02/08/2023 20:11

Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing ok? I'm still chugging along at various projects all at once 🙄

I have a quick question I want someone to think through with me, please...

I want (well, my class teacher does) to make these trees in my pic (don't ask). Would you work the balls bottom up, then a row of flo sc to start the ball shape, so they can be stabilised with a thick bit of card & stand on top of their stumps? I think that's the best way to do them but wondered if anyone had any other ideas before I start?

tizwozliz · 02/08/2023 20:42

I'm desperately trying to finish some crochet dinosaurs but having colour combination wobbles. Also pup has just finally settled down to sleep but is on my arm so I can't do anything!

StillNiceCardigan · 02/08/2023 21:34

I'd definitely start at the bottom @lucysmam

I get colour combination wobbles all the time @tizwozliz this is my current project which is just using up my stash (and keeping me warm in this dreadful weather) and I think one of the greens looks wrong but I'm just going to go with it.

Hello from Asturias where we are on holiday camping. And guess what I'm knitting? A scarf! Somebody's got to stop me...

lucysmam · 03/08/2023 07:47

Thanks @StillNiceCardigan , I'm out today but might experiment later on (or might be really lazy and look for a ball or egg pattern & be very lazy about the whole thing 🙈)

Twyford · 03/08/2023 09:05

I've got some T shirt yarn to use up, and I thought I'd crochet a basket. Can anyone recommend any reasonably easy patterns?

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 03/08/2023 09:11

Oh, pretty colour, @MerylSqueak! Clearly I am not going to be any help stopping you😀

I've got the base and the bottom couple of inches of the sides of my scrappy basket done, but it is slow progress, as I can only do a couple of rounds before my fingers start to hurt from the tightness.

I'm considering starting another project alongside because it's frustrating me that I have to stop when I don't really want to (either this one that I have the yarn for, or this one that I would have to buy yarn after you all helped me pick), but I'm worried that if I do that, I'll end up ignoring the basket and I do want to get it finished.

And that's ignoring DD's hexagon cardigan where I know I need to take back the ribbing on the cuff to make the sleeves longer whish it what I know I really ought to do while it will still fit her, but just don't seem to be able to make myself do it!

Hi everyone I'm also still here. The last month was a bit busy but now I'm on holiday in Germany. With plenty of rain and cold temps, so I've made great progress on the easy socks I brought with me, turned the heels yesterday. At home I finished the wrap I was knitting(pic), completed and wrapped to be handed to my mum as a (Christmas!) present this coming weekend. I used up all the yarn, so no additions to my scrap collection! At home I am way past the heel on my blue-green socks, but the cable pattern and splitty yarn don't travel well so they're on hold.
@QuantumWeatherButterfly I love both the patterns you link, to my untrained eye they barely look like crochet and both are great garments. I think you should start one of them if you need 'rest' from the basket, what's another project in the multi-crafting universe 😀.
@MerylSqueak hope you have good weather without heat. Thats a nice pattern, I love the colour.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 03/08/2023 21:13

Hello everyone! It is I, Fairisle, on a name change. I've been away in Spain for a week (did some crochet squares, but didn't take any knitting). I finished the Tour de Fleece just before going and am pretty pleased with my yarn. Still plugging away at dd's dark green cable jumper and discovered several mistakes way back Angry but have decided to let them be as they are on the back!

Lovely wrap, @GlowWine. Stunning colour for that scarf, @MerylSqueak . Need to read back and look at everyone else's posts!

LancreWowhawk · 04/08/2023 07:22

Thanks @GlowWine! That shawl is a stunner!

I think that's what I'll do. I'm going to start the raglan jumper, I've got some Deramores DK in shades of blue and grey that I picked up on a yarn exchange page for very cheap that I'm going to use for it. Though I read the pattern again last night and remembered why I hadn't started it before - it is scarily intermediate looking, although it does seem very comprehensive. Hopefully the challenge will do me good!

Now to decide whether to do a stripe or a colour block. I think probably a colour block, just to reduce the ends I'll need to sew in! Just need to remember to keep enough back to match the sleeves😀

Hope you had a nice time in Spain, @AllProperTeaIsTheft😊

GlowWine · 04/08/2023 07:51

@LancreWowhawk Yay go for it! It was actually the stripes that attracted me to the jumper 😉but of course I agree about the weaving in, my pet hate.

@AllProperTeaIsTheft don't worry about the special pattern details in your green jumper 😀I always tell myself that's what makes any item personal...
