I signed up to become a member about ten days ago and thought yesterday to check how far I'd got. They don't know me. So I signed up again. And checked again. They still don't know me. What have I got to do to even get on the list?

i don't think there is a whole lot more warthog but i am a goat of simple pleasures.

warthog · 23/01/2008 20:24

i'm all for simple pleasures!

just seems a lot of hoo ha..

florenceuk · 23/01/2008 22:18

i just like browsing - and dreaming - being able to look at how 20 or so other people have knitted something you want to knit is very interesting for me! I think also if you are keen on sharing your projects it's a very clever site, with good integration into flickr. The format of the forums is also very good (much better than, say, craftster).

I like seeing how other peoples knits came out - its amazing how the same pattern can look so different!

Mind you, doubt if Ill be posting any pics of my first attempt at socks, not after looking at some of the socks on there.

warthog · 24/01/2008 12:39

yes, i can see how different executions of the same pattern is interesting...

GreebosWhiskers · 24/01/2008 14:30

Warthog you have to find groups to join then you'll see the appeal

I'm in 16 groups now [saddo emoticon] & have over 100 people on my friends list but that's 'cos the Ankh-Morpork Knitters Guild is doing a group afghan to send to Terry Pratchett (called the Pratchgan - geddit?) & I'm co-ordinating it.

There are swap groups too - I've sent off some yarn I'll never use & am waiting on stuff arriving from someone else.

I heart Ravelry - I spend more time on there than on here just now.

GreebosWhiskers · 24/01/2008 14:30

Meant to add - I got my hat from DutchOma & it is gorgeous

DutchOma · 28/01/2008 20:26

Only 568 people ahead of me. And I only managed to sign up on 18th January.

You should be on in the next couple of days then DutchOma. See you there.

Dingle · 28/01/2008 22:48

I got my invite today and I signed up on 17th Jan.

Managed to have a quick look, saved a few freebie patterns to my favs but that's about it. The groups seem a bit daunting at the mo!

Not at work again 'til Friday so I can have a good look over the next few days hopefully!

Fubsy · 29/01/2008 12:08

Dingle, think I might have brushed past you on Ravelry this morning!

You know there's a MN group - Greeboswhiskers moderates it.

Dingle · 29/01/2008 12:14

oooo...is there!!!!

DutchOma · 29/01/2008 17:20

I'm in as well. Have posted some photos but find it very daunting. Not found the MN group yet. Must have another look later. Meanwhile I shall post the latest finished project on my profile...in a minute.

The MN group is Mumsknitters, and it's moderated by florenceuk, not Greeboswhiskers (unless there's another one I don't know about!). They are sigining people up within a week now, apparently, which is pretty good going.

Dingle · 29/01/2008 17:34

I can't find the MN group either!!

I have joined a couple for left handed knitters! and a UK one!

I am still knitting my likkle pig ATM!

Tamum · 29/01/2008 17:38

Dingle, go to Groups and type Mumsknitters into the search box, you should find us

Dingle · 29/01/2008 17:54

Thank you!!!

Fubsy · 29/01/2008 18:51

Oops, sorry its UKarma that GW is moderating
