Miaou - Stitch markers

First try what do you think?
I think the rings need to be bigger as these are only 7mm which may not give you enough movement over a larger needle ??
I used a jump ring so that if you did forget to remove it, you could simply twist the ring open to get it off the knitting.
I think the loops I have done could also be neater, I am useless at wrapped loops!
But are they something along the right lines?

Whizzz - they are perfect - just what I had in mind. Round beads are great because they are less likely to "catch" in the yarn as I'm knitting!

We have just bought a car so things are a little tight this week so please don't bust a gut! As it will be at least next week/week after before I can afford to pay you! However I definitely want some.

I think 7mm will probably be ok - that gives (in effect) 1mm clearance all round the needle I think? Or 2mm? I'm sure that's enough.

Thank you very much!!

Whizzz · 08/01/2008 15:55

Well I tell you what, let me have your addy & I will post these off as a free sample for you to 'test drive' .
If they are OK, let me know & I will make some tidier ones for you. If need be I can get some better rings.

They may also be better with a simpler loop at the top as I wondered whether it would cause the yarn to snag ??

OK Whizzz, that's really kind of you!! Will CAT you now

Whizzz · 09/01/2008 16:03

Nothing has come through yet Miaou, can you mail be on Whizzz_123 (at) yahoo.co.uk (you need the underscore after the zzz)

OP posts:
Miaou · 09/01/2008 16:23

OK, will do so now (wonder what happened there then?)

rantinghousewife · 11/01/2008 10:26

Whizz, can you do crochet ones too? They would need to be able to open so that you can get them out of the fabric. If you can I would be very interested.

Whizzz · 11/01/2008 16:53

RantingHW - I suppose I could adapt something so that they can open & close - would a kidney wire or lever back type earring wire do the job ? (multi purpose ! When you have finished crocheting you could wear them as earrings )

(Miaou - sorry not been able to post yours out yet, but I have ordered some larger (10mm) rings to try)

OP posts:
rantinghousewife · 11/01/2008 20:18

Yep that sort of thing would do the job, fancy an order or do you have too much on? Could do with a new set of earrings

Whizzz · 11/01/2008 21:43

How many would you need ? I could do a matching pair or use different colours ?? Again - let me make 1 or 2 & send them you for testing !

OP posts:
rantinghousewife · 11/01/2008 21:46

Ok. If I like them, I could probably do with at least 4 in the end. Let me know what you come up with and I'll arrange payment.

Whizzz · 11/01/2008 21:48

OK - I will have a play over the weekend & post a pic of what I come up with

OP posts:
rantinghousewife · 11/01/2008 21:53

Thank you.

workstostaysane · 11/01/2008 22:09

hello there,
sorry to crash, but i've just got to a point in my pattern where it says 'place markers at each end' and i don't know how to do that...
could anyone explain how to do this? and then i could perhaps buy some of these lovely markers to use....
many thanks,

rantinghousewife · 12/01/2008 13:14

Are you working in the round (on circulars)? If you are you place the markers where the front and back of the garment meet. Otherwise, place them at the beginning or end of the row, I would think. And if you don't have any markers yet, use scraps of contrasting wool.

Whizzz · 12/01/2008 15:11

RantingHW - Have a look & see if you think this will do the job Testing ! again I haven't made anything too fancy in case the wool gets snagged

OP posts:
rantinghousewife · 12/01/2008 15:13

That is...absolutely perfect! Thank you.

Whizzz · 12/01/2008 15:40

Right - how many would you like, any particular colours ?? Would you like several matching ones or each one to be different ?

OP posts:
rantinghousewife · 12/01/2008 15:51

I do actually love that colour, so that would be fine. And 4 would be fine, but 6 would be the icing on the cake, please. They don't have to be matching, a couple of different ones would be nice.
Let me know how much I owe you, at rantinghousewife at google dot com.

Whizzz · 12/01/2008 18:50

Ranting- should that be googlemail.com as it's been bounced back ??

OP posts:
rantinghousewife · 13/01/2008 19:33

Yep sorry, life got in the way there! Got your mail and replied.

Whizzz · 19/01/2008 10:57

Miaou - have a look at version 2 ! New and improved.
Do you want to try both types - I can easily make a few more of either.

Send me an email if you want to discuss !

These are so cute to make, I fancy making a few with gemstones and maybe some with sparkly crystals !!

Knitters - is there an optimum size do you think, assume they mustn't be too bulky / heavy to pull on the knitting?? Would a longer 'dangle' be a problem or do you think just 1 or 2 smaller beads are best ??

OP posts:
Whizzz · 19/01/2008 11:04

Miaou - actually I have just emailed you

OP posts:
meridian · 19/01/2008 11:08

whizzz- they look very pretty, I got some round nosed pliers with my last order of beads and have made one slightly wonky rose quartz one but its ok for a first attempt.. the only thing is I erm am only a basic knitter, it all goes tits up when i try to do patterns... anyway very pretty!

Miaou · 19/01/2008 11:53

Whizzz, they look fab! Will email you

Whizzz · 19/01/2008 11:53

sounds like me ! I managed to knit a few fluffy scarves last year but only because the fluffy wool hid the uneven stitches
