Does anyone have a Cricut

I'm considering buying one and wondered if anyone had one and could share their views on if they use it often, if they love it or if they regret buying it.

I'm thinking of buying the Maker and my main interest is for card stock projects, felting projects and cutting thin wood for projects. Most of the online reviews etc focus on the vinyl decals which are less appealing for me.

I don't like the design area much because I don't think it's particularly intuitive and I can't be bothered to see if there's a tutorial on a blog somewhere (there will be tutorials, I just can't be bothered to seek them out!)

The software is not the greatest - but I've fiddled around and got enough of a grasp of it to be OK. I tend to draw things out in procreate and import them over though which I've found works better.

My almost 9 year old is now designing her own stickers to print and cut on it - she's planning on selling them!

I've not found the UK/US thing an issue - although it has taken me a few days to realise the cutting boards have CM markings if you rotate them around! (It's been a looooong week)

I love the software but sounds like most people don't on here. I find it super easy to use, and you can change everything to metric in the settings and all cutting boards have cm on too.

It is an expensive item just for hobbying though!

I have just bought a Cricut and I have so far used it to make cards and leather jewellery. I love it and am so glad I took the plunge!

Hi, thanks for your replies. I bought myself a Joy in the end. (I know, I know, it’s expensive for a tiny thing, but it’s all I need for now). I’m really thrilled with it. I’ve made a card and some decals for the boys, and we’re going to cut all manner of paper and card shapes for their projects this weekend.

@LostInTime the complaints seemed to imply that if you’re not in the US you don’t have access to a full range of the free things, but I’m not sure if it’s true. Everything I’ve done so far was free and I’m pretty happy with it.

I’m planning to spend some time tomorrow trying to work out how to get it to write and how to upload fonts to it. I was using an ipad, but I’m going to try to use my computer instead, I think that’ll be easier for uploading files to it.

I’m going to watch some on the Design Space as it’s less intuitive than I was hoping (and I’m normally pretty good with software...)

I’m also going to look into the Silhouette for when I inevitably decide I need a full size one Grin

Thanks @FingonTheValiant!
