A Hufflepuff Crest and Thread ordered...I have so much thread but never bothered to label them correctly so I've no idea on shades etc!
I find it very relaxing

Joebloggswazere · 06/04/2019 22:23

I started a height chart cross stitch when my DD was a baby, I’ve yet to finish it and my DD is 11 next month. I refuse to throw it out though because I have put so much time and effort into it.

OvO · 06/04/2019 22:44

I was the same, Need, so many unlabelled threads as it didnt occur to me to do that! Now I'm so organised and have a full set of DMC all in numerical order. Grin. I like just opening the drawers and looking at all the colours!

Joe, maybe use it for future grandkids? 😆. I started a Beatrix Potter height chart about 13 years ago and didnt get very far at all!

Excellent op. Actually thought I knew you for a moment but that's a big nope. Someone I know does similar!

OvO · 06/08/2019 05:43

I have more finished projects! Just saw this thread again as was looking back at posts. Can I show off again? Grin

Okay, I gave you a chance to stop me... Wink
(Remember, no real life people to share my stuff with hence the MN posting)

I have Girl With Balloons, some Mermaids of the Deep, and the last one is called St Sylvestre and is done with metallic thread but you cant tell from the pic but its so sparkly in real life.

I've just started doing cross stitch so starting on some simplistic designs but hopefully be able to progress to more like yours. You are amazing they are fabulous

Winterfellismyhome · 07/08/2019 08:19

Those are beautiful OP! Fellow cross stitcher here Grin

onestepforwardtenstepsback · 07/08/2019 08:24

Can I ask do you use a magnifying craft lamp or not?

Winterfellismyhome · 07/08/2019 10:02

I dont personally but i know many crafters do @onestepforwardtenstepsback

OvO · 07/08/2019 13:54

Thanks again, you lovely complimenty people! Grin

Onestep, it depends on the count of fabric, or if its a full coverage design, or if its confetti stitches whether or not I use a magnifying lamp.
I don't use one if its aida, or if using higher count evenweave or linen and it's blocks of colour or a simple design, or if i'm stitching over 2 (so making 36 count equal to 18 count).
But over 1 on anything over 20 count I'd use a magnifier. I got a cheap one from Aldi years ago and it does the trick!

And if I've made that sound complicated as you haven't learnt all the terms yet I'm sorry! I'm happy to explain. Have you joined any facebook cross stitch groups? I didnt know they existed until a few years ago and learnt so much! They love a newbie. Grin

onestepforwardtenstepsback · 08/08/2019 07:55

I'm not on Facebook so can't join any of there groups.
I think it's the light I need more than the magnifying as on a evening I seem to struggle to see especially if it's a dark thread. Where as during the day I'm ok.
Your work is amazing. How long roughly does a big project take you?

OvO · 08/08/2019 15:12

The bulb has gone in my magnifier and craft lamps are ££ (will get one someday) but in the meantime I'm using this lamp from Ikea. I can bend it to get just the right amount of light.

The Hogwarts crests (around 15,000 stitches) take me about a month while the butterfly woman (around 32,000 stitches) took around 4 months as there's a LOT more colours in that one. It might have only been 3 months actually, I might be including the month she spent in a cupboard when I was mad at her. Grin

YesQueen · 08/08/2019 16:01

I would definitely pay for butterfly woman, I LOVE THAT! Grin

Panda761 · 08/08/2019 16:26
