Have a look in my profile, and there is a photo of a heart with the name Katie on it, I made it for a friend and they were over the moon with it, you can write a message on the back. Everyone that has seen it said I should start making them for other people and try to sell them. How much would you charge if you were selling this?

Thats really pretty !
It's so hard to decide prices. I'd say a figure based on what it costs to make + how much it costs to wrap & post + a factor for your time. Thats what I do for my beady stuff

Marne · 23/06/2007 22:09

Its lovely, i love your pop-art, you have tallent, do you sell your paintings?

highonlife · 23/06/2007 22:09

It's lovely, hard to know what you could charge without knowing what materials you have used. Your other stuff is fab too. Why consider going back to work when the pelvis recovers? Stay at home and create (although difficult when you have helpful toddler and baby in tow)

dollyk · 23/06/2007 22:10

I love them all do you do the paintings to sell

loopyredangel · 23/06/2007 22:22

Thanks for all the lovely feedback. I really wouldn't know where to start to sell them as a job. I have only ever sold a couple. I have recently been told my pelvis is unlikely to recover, so I am now thinking of alternatives, I am also expecting my second baby - due in November x

The heart is lovely. It's so difficult to work out prices for things you make, isn't it? I make novelty birthday cakes, and they take ages to do. If I charged realistically for my time, nobody would ever buy them! So i don't - I charge for the materials and a profit and don't factor in my time at all.

I would pay at least 7.50 for the heart, by the way, and probably more. Especially if it was prettily packaged (I'm shallow that way!)

vEnividivicKiqV · 24/06/2007 14:02

The heart is lovely. I think £7.50 is reasonable. (I would imagine that as time went on, you would probably get faster at doing them too?)

Your paintings are FANTASTIC!

How much would you charge to do one of those name ones? (The "Molly" one).

loopyredangel · 24/06/2007 21:06

The Molly one I did for a relative, it took quite some time to do and there is alot of detail in it, it's quite a big canvas! God, you see this is the problem, how much would I charge again, based on the hints from the ladies for working the price out it would be about £40.

OP posts:
BegoneGremlinsQV · 25/06/2007 00:58

Sounds fair. How big is the canvas on that one?

loopyredangel · 25/06/2007 10:04

It measured 30cm x 60cm.

Have a look at this lady's shop on ebay. LOvely items like yours, see what the competition is charging...

sorry that should have said paints - fingers are moving to quick for my brain!

OP posts:
loopyredangel · 25/06/2007 20:53

DO you think £9.95 is a fair price including postage and packaging?

OP posts:
muppetgirl · 25/06/2007 21:19

I think best to start off at slightly lower price then build up after a few sales have come in. I did a bit if ebaying before pnd set in adn found that the better way. Good prices got sales, got good feedback, got sales etc. Also a lot of repeat customers once they see and like your items.
