I've redone it with just 1 chain between clusters as per the written commentary. It does curl up on itself a bit on the second round but the third "normal" round straightens it out but gives the second round a bit of puff.

How about using a chunky yarn for the petal part?

[desparate]

TwoInTheMourning · 10/07/2014 19:35

Right, this is my offering based on your instructions, but only two chains in between each cluster of trebles. Also not puffed. Pretty though.

Morning :)

No one has managed to get it as puffy as the original have they?

OwlCapone · 11/07/2014 08:02

I guess it would work if you replaced the 2nd round with puff stitches made of 4 or 5 TCs and with 3 chains between the corner pair.

PetulaGordino · 11/07/2014 08:10

they almost look like they've been fulled a little

OwlCapone · 11/07/2014 11:02

Ok. This ignores the chart and photos but seems to have the right effect.

The first round uses TC clusters and 1 chain between each cluster.
The second round is worked into R1after turning the work over and uses puffs of 3TC and 1 chain between each puff. It cups a lot after this round.
The second round is TC clusters with 3 chains at the corners and 1 elsewhere.

the chart is standard symbols, there's a good chart here that explains them all, although note US terms Smile

on round 3 on the middle of each side there's a front post dc into the middle dc of the first round on each side, I guess this is what pulls it in giving the puffy look. There's a good tutorial except you'd be working 2 rows below instead of 1 Smile

I feel the need to give it a go now Grin

OwlCapone · 11/07/2014 11:53

The chart doesn't match the picture though. I'm sure the picture doesn't have that single stitch into the row below at all. That part of the pattern seems to be a TC cluster of 3 from the picture of the blanket.

OwlCapone · 11/07/2014 11:53

You definitely need to give it a go though! :o

Blogacavolo · 11/07/2014 12:50

Hello! I know Giuliana, she is my best friend! A beautiful italian blogger... she will respond as soon as possible with a post!

TheNinjaGooseIsHooking · 11/07/2014 13:28

ok probably a bit late now but this is my effort front and back view, it's quite puffy but I think if round 3 and 4 were the same colour it'd look more like the pattern. Will be interesting to see what it's supposed to be rather than my guess Grin

Thank you everyone for your contributions. Some of the lingo has got a little too technical for a newby like me! I can't believe Giuliana herself is going to come and talk to us though!!!!!!!ShockSmileShock

We'll have enough practice squares to make a blanket soon...

Or at least a 12" panel :)

TheNinjaGooseIsHooking · 11/07/2014 14:18

true Grin

tribpot · 11/07/2014 15:04

Ooh I'm looking forward to hearing from Giuliana, how exciting!

I think everyone's squares look great, it'd be fab to collect them up for a Woolly Hug or Little Hug maybe!
