Oh bless, she's crying :(

UniqueAndAmazing · 09/04/2013 21:01

they don't really have time to sort out a good fit. that takes friffing ages

ChippingInIsEggceptional · 09/04/2013 21:01

Proper big fat real tears too... not 'look at me ones'... :(

SoupDragon · 09/04/2013 21:02

I could see Mark was going out - he didn't have a good week. Not overly surprised at Tilly - I can't help thinking she needed to make a proper pattern rather than make one up and make extra pressure for herself.

blueraincoat · 09/04/2013 21:03

I am still gobsmacked at them having trousers in that amount of time. Actual trousers!

UniqueAndAmazing · 09/04/2013 21:03

I know chipping :(
I hope it's just panic.

UniqueAndAmazing · 09/04/2013 21:05

trousers are easy if you know the tricks Grin

actually, trousers are easy once you've got the fit right. getting the fit right is hard. (if you're usjng a shop-bought pattern it's easy)

outtolunchagain · 09/04/2013 21:07

Right two I think , can't believe Patrick wanted to keep Tilly over Stuart , she didn't finish and that's the challenge . Loved Stuart's Chinese blouse and surprised to find that I loved Sandra's as well.

Lauren is very sweet , she has just opened a fabric shop in Birmingham apparently .

cocolepew · 09/04/2013 21:21

Sandra's and Stuart's blouses looked really well done, in regards to detail, to my non-sewing eye.

Patrick is indeed gorgeous and I bet he smells divine.

RueDeWakening · 09/04/2013 21:22

Tilly was rubbish! Glad she's gone, she was annoying me (soz if you're reading, like, Tilly :o).

I really liked Stuart's pockets, I've done a tshirt for DD similar to it with ricrac etc but the flower wasn't a pocket! Liked his blouse as well so he definitely deserved to stay in IMO.

Ann I think is playing it safe - but I can't decide whether it's because she's proper old skool or whether she's just getting through to the final and is going to let her creativity rip there. No? ;)

And Lauren did really well this week I thought, but whatserface (female judge) is right, she panics. And the clip of next week's show backs that up too, hope she's OK despite everything. She did pretty well with the trousers though, and they're a bugger to sew - I had enough trouble making the first pair of shorts I did for DS, took me about a gazillion several tries to get one leg inside the other the right way round to sew the arse seam :o

RubyGates · 09/04/2013 21:24

Noooooooooo!

rabbitonthemoon · 09/04/2013 21:32

Tilly annoying?! Never - I lurrve her! She has taught me how to use my machine, her blog is ace and I will miss her.

flubba · 09/04/2013 21:38

sticks fingers in ears and sings lalalalalalaaaaa loudly

Soup (just caught up with the thread from last week!) DD is 7, SEVEN - I swear MN children grow at twice the speed of RL children!! It is hard when you have a tall child to buy age appropriate clothes & clothes that don't look babyish on them... still, at least you can sew! I'm sure that dress will look lovely - will you post a pic when you've done it??

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 09/04/2013 23:02

Ooh just watched it on sky+
Glad Tilly has gone, her trousers were bad, her patch pocket wasn't done properly and she didn't finish blouse (although I did actually like it out of all of them style & fabric wise) but she was just a bit too full of herself.
If she only started sewing 2 years ago - how is she already selling her patterns? Either she is good at pattern drafting and pants at sewing or something ain't right....

Looks like jackets next week? I have wool fabric and patterns to make one but still not brave enough to start for fear I'll make an expensive error so feeling for Lauren already

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 09/04/2013 23:22

Fab programme tonight and DS3 watched with me and enjoyed! Grin
I might have someone I can pass down my mum's skills to, after all.

Last week's programme inspired me to get the machine out and today DH wore his 'Made with Love' shirt to work and got loads of compliments. It must be like riding a bike - you don't forget how to do it.

I have already broken my week old rule of not buying for the next project till this one's finished. I bought the stuff to make a skirt, a funny apron for a friend and stuff for a table runner and 12 napkins today. Blush

I thought Stuart's skirt was good - very White Stuff. I had a look in a few charity shops/Pimark/Peacocks for a plain cotton skirt to jazz up but nothing doing - so I'm doing the whole thing from scratch.

The best new thing since I last sewed is the Internet - you can find out how to do anything - it's fab.

catwithflowers · 10/04/2013 07:12

As a non-sewer who wants to have a go after watching this show, I have found this YouTube guide to making cushion overs with a zip. The child making them can only be about 12 so I am encouraged! Plus, it's a very 'step by step' guide which is just what I need Smile

www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=how%20to%20make%20cushion%20cover%20with%20zip&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CDgQtwIwAQ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DLWIVVYrhslA&ei=awFlUcDtFsHC0QWk3oD4DA&usg=AFQjCNFPxbmqsVRWX_NLoiGijEuMHmJHsA&sig2=VhD7De_GOuDLh1bbFAiyxg&bvm=bv.44990110,d.d2k

I've just found some Laura Ashley fabric on Ebay which matches my curtains, so maybe its a sign!!

catwithflowers · 10/04/2013 07:13

Covers, not overs Blush

SoupDragon · 10/04/2013 07:57

Either she is good at pattern drafting and pants at sewing or something ain't right....

I think she just needs more time in order to sew to the standard they're after. She doesn't appear to perform well under pressure.

Chipping I will post a picture. She's been away for a week so I've not been able to measure her for the crochet bit - back today so I can remedy that :)

Shesparkles · 10/04/2013 08:27

I'm loving the programme too. I have mixed feelings about Tilly going out. Whilst I love her ideas and enthusiasm, she doesn't have the technical knowledge to pull off what the show seems to be looking for. I just seems to be a time thing, but unfortunately it doesn't make for good TV, both weeks she's run out of time and has had to present an unfinished garment.
I love Lauren though, but she needs to learn to manage her time better, her last minute panics are letting her down.
I keep shouting at the TV in the manner of a bloke watchful football!

Maybe this is the time to revisit my plan to set up and teach dressmaking classes?

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 10/04/2013 08:37

shesparkles - just don't have a big countdown clock in the room while you teach Grin

Shesparkles · 10/04/2013 08:54

Not even the music? Grin

LIZS · 10/04/2013 09:01

No mention of Jane :( Tilly was creative but lacked the technical know how of how to translate that I to reality and it threw her. lol at non-fly zips and fastening the wrong way !

EffieTheDuck · 10/04/2013 09:02

Some nice patterns here

I felt that the tutorial was quite rushed last night and is it just me or are some zips curved for men? Confused
Sad too see Mark go and I quite liked Tilly's blouse but they should have been given an hour longer. The time restraint is very frustrating.

Dcs and I tie dyed calico squares in turmeric yesterday so we are going to make them into cushion covers today.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 10/04/2013 09:13

I was wondering why they were having such a tricky time with the fly TBH. I thought they must have beeen given the pattern pieces and no instructions but I'm fairly sure I saw Lauren looking at instructions. So why the difficulty?
Confused
