What are you knitting? What should I do next?

I am a beginner/intermediate, hate sewing up.

I have just done a hat for me - Whistler Beanie from a Sublime book, and a baby beanie , Rosey Posie Beanie , also Sublime.

I have a huge stash of DK yarns of varying niceness. Lots of small people patterns and books.

So, another baby hat?
Bootees - not done those before.
A toddler hat knitted in the round? I have a set of circs and some DPNs for Christmas and Itty Bitty Hats book but have been too chicken to try knitting in the round yet
this Pixie hat ?
Or these cute bunnies

What do you reckon?

I've made these and they are VERY cute aaaah, almost worth having another baby just so they can wear them Grin

MiniEggsAreTheWorkOfTheDevil · 15/02/2012 06:41

Darned - grins don't work in links. Here it is HERE

woollyideas · 15/02/2012 06:47

I am knitting breasts for the local hospital.

pattern here on ravelry

Knittingmamma · 15/02/2012 07:23

Currently doing a striped tank top for ds2. Using up lots of old bits of yarn like you OP. Actually most of my scraps are left over from a striped jumper my mum knitted for my brother about 25 years ago, and she used lots of the scraps making Christmas jumpers for her and my dad. And I have already used lots in a crochet blanket. I love seeing the same colours and being reminded of all those other projects. It's a bit like a patchwork quilt, in a knitted kind of way. Anyway, I LOVE the bsj and I think that's going to be my next project. Thank you for introducing me to it! Smile

tribpot · 15/02/2012 07:23

Saartje's booties are just unbelievably cute, aren't they? I'm sure if I didn't have four friend-babies to knit for I would be considering having another child for this reason Grin

mrswoodentop · 15/02/2012 08:50

Currently finishing off the frill on some kidsilk Haze mittens, finding it very fiddly but going to finish as already have the scarf, only one seam.I hate sewing up too hoping my local yarn shop is going to do a course soon.

Lots of shrugs have only a little seam, try searching Ravelry

Am about to start a cable cushion cover

MiniEggsAreTheWorkOfTheDevil · 15/02/2012 08:54

LOL yy Tribpot and that would be entirely reasonable. BTW I have nobbled a expert knitter (I am an amateur) to make the Kate Middleton Cardigan thingy for me like you suggested on other thread SmileUsing this pattern and lovely fluffy Debbie Bliss wool!

Salteena · 15/02/2012 09:11

Here's a brilliant site btw - free patterns (adults & children) and the clearest, most hassle-free video tutorials: [www.verypink.com]

There's also a great explanation of how to knit with dpns, for anyone who's getting to grips with a new technique. Highly recommend taking a look.

Salteena · 15/02/2012 09:13

Grr. Link fail - try again: www.verypink.com

tribpot · 15/02/2012 09:20

Mini- that's a lovely pattern! I note the designer has very cleverly hidden her inspiration by calling it the Catherine bolero Wink

DickSwivellersTidyWife · 15/02/2012 09:21

Thanks Salteena am going to have a look

Those videos are good - I was put off by some of the patterns needing paying for but the videos are available for everyone. Am watching now Smile

Tribot - Yes, I would perhaps suggest a career move to MI5 might not be in the offing...

tribpot · 15/02/2012 10:02

Mini - MI5 I think have not yet tapped into the undercover knitwear specialist market :) Unless the reason knitting patterns have got so hard to understand is because they contain coded messages?! OMG! Wink

I'm moving to Toddington Bedfordshire soon-does anyone know where my nearest wool shop would be?

DutchOma · 15/02/2012 10:21

There's one in Olney. Not sure how far that is. Is in Buckinghamshire of course.
Join Ravelry, there is a group of Bedfordshire knitters, they'll tell you. I'm in Northants.

tribpot · 15/02/2012 10:27

I did you a Google Maps search but I agree with DutchOma, have a look on Ravelry. For basic supplies there's a Hobbycraft in Milton Keynes.

DutchOma · 15/02/2012 10:32

I have just finished Tiziana's shawl 'Le Bon Mariage' and it is so not for beginners, I tell you. It took me four months and about 30 messages to Tiziana (in Italy) with photographs to get it sorted. But now that it is finished it is amazing. The most beautiful (and difficult) thing I ever did. You can check on Ravelry if you like, same user name.
BSJ is wonderful, I did the first one of mine in a day and a half because I was just so curious to see how it would turn out. Since then I have done about six.
My next project is a Boobie Beanie, the pattern for that is on Rav as Breast hat.

DutchOma · 15/02/2012 10:34

Oh and another thing: You must come to FibreEast on 14th and 15th July. It's in Thurleigh, Beds.

Speckle48 · 15/02/2012 10:54

Thank you that's a good idea and I'll definitely look up FibreEast- thanks DutchOma. I'd found a shop in Dunstable on the internet so will try and find that one too!!

TwoJackRussellsandababy · 15/02/2012 11:37

I'm just starting a perugina throw by Colinette, loving it and hoping it'll be a quick knit too after doing a few knits for the boy which took a little time...

tribpot · 15/02/2012 11:45

Beautiful, TwoJack! Which colour are you going for?

TwoJackRussellsandababy · 15/02/2012 15:41

I got the skylark one, so mostly dark blues with a bit of pink in it, it's a really really nice combination :)

kellestar · 15/02/2012 15:42

Puerperium cardigan this was lovely to knit and it's seamless. I knitted the main body on some longer needles that I had and then the sleeves were done on two circular needles using magic loop. I am really pleased with it as I hate seaming up and it looks so tiny and cute. Took me four evenings to make up. Pattern is free on Ravelry.

I tend to do lots of baby knits for friends, or little girl knits for DD.

DutchOma · 15/02/2012 17:00

That is such a darling pattern, Kellystar I've downloaded and printed it and will do it when I next run out of knitting Grin
