Im neither onwe. Just curious, as I was surprised who most people defender.

Person A is a middle aged man with his 8ish year old son. He walks into the tram and a couple of mins later, turns to his son and asks him who he thinks the hottest girl on the tram is.

Person B is a young girl who looks in her early twenties. She intervenes and tells him that it is an inappropriate thing to say. She also starts filming him.

Person A scoffs and ignores her.

Person B goes on to say that he should teach his son to read, count and write rather than ask him who the hottest girl on the tram was. That he should stop with his "third world country mentality and education" (person A was of Arab/Middle Eastern descent).

Person A proceeds to insult her, call her a bitch, a wh*, asking her if she wanted to see his d** while gesturing a handjob. Telling her her don told him she was the most disgusting girl on the tram and yet the loudest. Calling her a witch, etc...

No he didn't insult her. The lady said "stop insulting the young lady" to which he replied something along the line of "you call that a young lady? That's a witch."

Eh? So why did she say "stop insulting the young lady"? What did she hear?

Sorry, I meant he didn't insult the older lady who stepped in.

Everyone's in the wrong, for different reasons. The person of "Arab/Middle Eastern descent" for their sexism and abusive comments, the woman who challenged him for escalating the situation by recording it and the other passengers who intervened.

OneTC · 22/02/2023 13:58

They both sound like arseholes but calling it a tram is genuinely painful 😅

Needmorelego · 22/02/2023 14:05

@OneTC I think it was changed to 'tram' because non Londoners are unlikely to know what the DLR is.
(For those that don't - it's the Docklands Light Railway - driverless light rail trains that pootle around the Docklands/South East area of London. It makes a god awful loud sreeeeeeeeeeech noise on some parts of the route)

OneTC · 22/02/2023 14:08

I was expecting the thread to be about adults and children fighting over who gets to sit at the front and pretend to drive it

GoodChat · 22/02/2023 14:10

They sound like a right pair of dickheads.

nye11111 · 22/02/2023 14:24

He SHOULD stop acting like he is in a country where women are nothing to them and are just there for his & his sons viewing pleasure. Person A was in the wrong Person B was absolutely correct.

Completely agree.

jcyclops · 22/02/2023 14:29

Both obnoxious.

"Third world mentality and education" is interesting.

The three worlds was originally a political construct. The first world was the western allies in NATO and countries that had signed mutual defence agreements with them such as ANZUS, Japan, South Korea etc. The second world was the Eastern Bloc - Russia, China and their allies. The third world consisted of the non-aligned states and everybody else. Things such as wealth and education was irrelevant.

This means that by definition, Ireland is a third world country, as is Switzerland. Only in more recent times, due to the predominance of poorer African, South American and Asian countries has the use of "third world" changed to be used for less developed countries.

I don't see how she can be correct for this after she corrected him and he shut up: Person B goes on to say that he should teach his son to read, count and write rather than ask him who the hottest girl on the tram was. Whilst videoing him. That's clearly for social media and not her own safety. That's racist.

Wow! I didn't know that. Thank you

B started off being in the right and then lost the moral high ground.

The DLR is not a fecking tram!

Would you have said the bit about 'in a country' if person A was of white/British appearance?

Person A was undoubtedly an arsehole but there are several posts in this thread which seem overly conscious of the 'Middle Eastern' bit of the story.

Not everyone in the Middle East is a misogynistic arsehole and many people who aren't Middle Eastern are misogynistic arseholes.

londonmummy1966 · 22/02/2023 15:22

Totally missing the point but the DLR more closely resembles the Croydon tram than a tube or train so I can see why the OP might have been confused if she doesn't use the DLR often. It isn't a tram though.

SpinningFloppa · 22/02/2023 12:57

The DLR is a train btw not a tram (sorry that’s just been bugging me 🫣)

Cheers! I just looked it up. I don't live in London and have never heard of it. I just did not want to come across as daft!

OutsideLookingOut · 22/02/2023 15:39

Meh I a glad B challenged A but they were wrong to talk about the third world country.

QueefQueen80s · 22/02/2023 16:47

Person A is gross.

144 or without deductions?

Neededanewuserhandle · 23/02/2023 10:26

Two bald people arguing over a comb. Bonus demeritt for "person A" twaddle.
