I used to get excited about new shoes arriving.

Now it's washing machines.

I am officially old and sad at the age of 32.

(I can't wait to put a new wash in - 8 kg - and see how good it is).

ooh Jelly that is just shameless boasting.

Matching tumbler drier and washing machine

My tumble drier is going to look like the poor relatiion - I tripped over backwards a couple of weeks back and landed on the open door, which snapped off. Has to be wedged together to make it work.

Next to my new machine it is going to look vile.

Stealth - Forgot to add, I totally get your fantasy of a spare freezer.

Recently my parents visited and mentioned that I didn't seem to have much food in the house ('twas time to go to the supermarket) and I was full of smug-ness that I have a freezer downstairs full of meals and bread and milk.

The problem is that I don't like to actually eat anything out of it because then it won't be full and I'd have to re-stock it...

EnglandAllenPoe · 07/07/2010 14:17

SPB - laundry basket liners?

plenty of closet saddos coming out into the open GOML - i am also 32...it didn't used to seem this old

lol GOML It sounds good.

I have also decided I am getting old. Am very excited that my new wardrobes are here and the fitter is currently fitting them as we speak

funtimewincies · 07/07/2010 14:18

Stealth.

I've started doing a monthly online shop too for stuff like loo rolls, tins and washing powder. If we ever have rationing again I'm sorted!

JellyBabyLady · 07/07/2010 14:19

It really is shameless boasting, I still can't believe my DH let me get them!

StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2010 14:22

did he give you £2000 and tell you to buy something nice love

yes, my baskets have liners! don't yours??

JellyBabyLady · 07/07/2010 14:22

Funtime - Bulk buying is definitely where its at. Through DH's job we got a discounted membership to Costco and we now have a stockpile of wetwipes, loo rolls, washing up liquid, fizzy pop, tins and cleaning products that should see us through to at least 2012 I reckon!

Each shop costs a fortune in Costco because we buy so much but then each supermarket shop is smaller because there is loads we don't need cos we already have it.

JellyBabyLady · 07/07/2010 14:27

SPB - I wish, if he'd done that it would have gone on shoes, handbags etc

We moved into a new house with nothing and Currys had a sale so I bought fridge/freezer, freezer and washing machines all at the same time. You could see the £££ signs in the mans eyes as we explained what we were looking to buy and we managed to barter a discount.

But, I still went back for the dryer and had to pay full price for that

GetOrfMoiLand · 07/07/2010 14:28

Christ, time was when we would have got excited about having a tasty wardrobe fitter in the house

Now it's exciteemnt over bloody wardbrobes.

It is DP's birthday this weekend and we are going to a hotel on Saturday night - now a short time ago we would have wanted to go to Birminham or Cardiff or something to go clubbing.

This weekend we are going to Derbyshire and are walking round Chatsworth gardens

Old farts.

LOL! He is rather young - not sure on how tasty TBH. But, TBH, I am now so old that so long as he does a good job fitting the wardrobes I don't care

funtimewincies · 07/07/2010 14:30

I think that I've somehow morphed into my mother .

If, so then orgasms upon the arrival of the Lakeland or Kleeneze catalogues beckon !

JellyBabyLady · 07/07/2010 14:32

Hey, don't joke about the Kleeneze catalogue...

mrsbadonkadonk · 07/07/2010 14:32

Ok I'm going to show off now. My Bosch holds 10kg! I love it and spent an entire afternoon watching it wash clothes when it first turned up. I'm even sadder in that I'm very proud that I can wash my kingsize quilt in it! So there!

JellyBabyLady · 07/07/2010 14:36

10kg? Surely there isn't that much laundry in the world?! Oh wait, what am I saying??

mrsbadonkadonk · 07/07/2010 14:44

JellyBabyLady believe me, in my house a 20kg one wouldn't be enough.

GetOrfMoiLand · 07/07/2010 14:54

Perhaps 32 is the new 48?

I get a huge feeling of satisfaction after I have cleaned my kitchen. I stand there hands on hips with a beatific look on my face.

Oh how times have changed since I used to hide my dirty dishes in the oven and be all manana about cleaning.

And I go 'ooh look' (to nobody in particular) in Sainsbos when I spot a new flavour washing up liquid.

GinaFB · 07/07/2010 14:58

Oh I am the same with all white goods....

thats worrying isn't it - I agree its a 30s thing!

StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2010 15:01

did i mention i cleaned my oven?
and this is after a week's use

JaMmRocks · 08/07/2010 20:43

I was like this when mine arrived too, a 9kg Hotpoint Aqualtis

And then when I got a huge capacity washing line...

oh dear, what have I become?!

JellyBelly10 · 30/11/2010 01:37

I know this is a really old thread...but I have just ordered my 8kg Bosch and am SO excited...reading this thread got me EVEN more excited...I feel that same sense of heightened, excited anticipation as I did when I knew I was going into labour and that I'd have a new baby later that day. And the washing machine will arrive without any of the pain and disgusting mess of a mere baby.
Washing machine.....I love you already.

ChippingIn · 30/11/2010 02:10

Jelly - I wondered why GOML was getting another new machine - then realised the date on the thread!

I got a new machine last week - it was all quite exciting, but mainly I think because I'd been fussing over getting the right one for so bloody long I was relieved the decision had been made! I did several loads in a bit of an excited flurry - but it was making an odd noise so I had to send it back :( The new one arrived Sunday - I haven't used it yet - I'm finding it hard to bond with it so soon after the other one.

TiraMissYou · 30/11/2010 02:13

JellyBelly I am very Envy. My shiny black 8kg machine has become terminal. And in the house of MissYou we have had threadworms and a vomiting virus and now a COLLOSAL volume of bedding, towels and soft toys to hotwash. Urgh.

The laundrette service wash lady is starting to view as very grim customers indeed.

So wash galore woman and enjoy!

Repair man due tommorrow. Pray for my hotpoint Grin

TiraMissYou · 30/11/2010 02:15

Chipping In - you can put it through an initiation ceremony with some serious washing from the MissYou's if you like!!
