Ds2 is my 3rd child. He is now 3 months old. He wears baby gros all the time, day and night...
Some people have commented on it and I noticed other people dressing their babies in fully co-ordinnated outfits including matching shoes from birth.
I'm not really bothered, I have done all the cute outfits with the first 2 and decided he is more comfortable and it's a lot more practical for me to keep him in babygros probably for the next month or so...
AIBU or should I get a grip???

I'm sure I read a thread here about a year ago where a HV gave a mother a real ticking-off for bringing her small baby to the weigh-in clinic in his 'pyjamas'. It's appalling to think that the mindset seems to be now that they are just for nighttime, and also that in some way, it's a bad thing to take your baby outside in his comfortable 'nightwear'. Even if babygros were only for nighttime, how can it matter if a 2 month old baby wears them all day? One thing I loved about having DS in babygros all the time was that if he had a clean nappy on and his current babygro was clean enough, we just popped him into bed - no need to change him for the night!

DS is now 2.4 and is wearing a short jersey romper suit at the moment, with poppers at the crotch. Looks really cool and comfortable in the heat. (No, he's not potty-training yet! )

You know, I'm ashamed to admit it but I get a bit judgeypants the other way. About very small babies in jeans etc because I just think they must be so uncomfy - tiny tummies, full of wind, unable to move - that horrible feeling you get after a big meal sometimes? Imagine not being able to adjust your waistband. Imagine sleeping in stiff trousers and not being able to move that much. Horrible. I inwardly feel most approving of babies in babygrows. I mean, they parent my way, so they must be right.

I see outfits as being about the parents and not the baby. In the under 8 weeks range, I see some outfits (jeans and a leather aviator jacket, in June, WTF) as being as bad as putting a dog in a diamonte tutu.

I'm ashamed because I hate judgey people. It's my dark secret. Please don't judge me for judging? But the moral is: you will be judged whatever you do as a parent, so you may as well please yourself.

Confuzled - I judge that way too, budge over on the bench of shame will you? I hate denim on babies. Sorry

YANBU _ kept all if mine in babygros for months and months (DD is 16 months and stil goes in them sometimes ). They're so comfy and easy.

YANBU - I kept ds in babygros for ages- he seemed so comfy in them. MIL kept nagging me to put him in outfits so he "looked like a little boy" (!!!!), but I didn't want him in jeans etc before he could even sit up. I don't understand the rush, to be honest.

Glad to have found a home here! I also hate denim on babies/ young children. Now that ds has progressed to trousers, I only buy lovely soft jogging bottoms for him. I like to think of him being comfortable

em, ds is 13 months old and when we aren't leaving the house or just going to my mums i keep him in romper suits. some with short sleeves/legs some with long. he is comfy an dit means his 'nice' clothes can b ekept clean for when we do go out.

YADNBU

DS wore white babygro at night and coloured ones for day time.... No-one commented but then I am quite fierce....!

We were given a few outfits - including a pair of Jeans from GAP that he wore if we were meeting up with judgy people from about 4 months.... They were the coolest trousers - a really good cut/fit!!

DS also had lots of soft trousers - actual trousers, without feet made of babygro-type matrial if that makes sense. I hated to see babies who were held straight by their clothes before they were ready to uncurl themselves....

TheBride · 05/07/2010 15:37

I didnt even realise there was anything else to put babies in but babygros and the odd cardi(clearly the buyers in M&S and John Lewis agree with the consensus on this board).

No denim there......how very dare you!
