...um... actually I don't have anything to say about that as it's really not very important what I ate decades ago and for how long.

I am glad I was bf it meant I had a source of experienced bf support 24hours when I attempted to bf .

Carbonated · 01/07/2010 11:24

If you don't have anything to, um, say then perhaps it's best to keep your ignorance/lack of opinion/knowledge/insight/potential to amuse or interest to yourself?

My brother and I were both BF. He has a chronic fatigue condition which has made him ill for the past 10 years, whilst I am in very good health and can count on one hand the number of colds I can recall having in my life. I have had flu once. Brother and I are not overweight and never have been.

Pointless anecdotes aside, I'm glad my mum BF (as did most women in my extended family) because I believe it made me more likely to BF my DCs.

I don't understand your post the2ndcoming

lemonysweet · 01/07/2010 12:41

hmm, with the 'population level' thing.

id like to see the stats of FF and BF related to household income, and then the stats of who out of mothers who FF and BF are more likely to go on and feed their kids a litre of pepsi and crap food at every meal.

I was BF, have two FF DDs and one BF one.

noone caaaaaaaarrressssss....

lilolilmanchester · 01/07/2010 12:48

odd thread but FWIW, i was FF - and have an incredible immune system, I've had max 2 days off work in 25 years. So there are other factors at play. That said, I did BF both mine.

IFancyKevinELevin · 01/07/2010 12:48

Formula? Boobymilk? Try this on for size:

My DH was fed watered down condensed milk in a bottle from birth.

He has teeth like a row of condemned houses, and every time he eats cheese he spends the early hours of the morning ralfing his guts up. Sometimes in his sleep which is v pleasant to share a bed with.

fragola · 01/07/2010 12:56

I was breastfed and I've got a rubbish immune system. Although this could be to do with my mum having 9 amalgam fillings put in while she was pregnant, which was a consequence of living off sherbert fountains...

I think I would have preferred to be formula fed and given the fillings and sherbert fountains a miss.

I was FF back in 69, think it was the fashion back then. I'd be more concerened that my mum would be feeding us as she blew her fag smoke in our faces. I was quite a sickly child as in constant colds, coughs, cold sores etc.

DuelingFanjo · 01/07/2010 13:11

my mum breastfed 3 kids in '68, 70 and 71 though she said not for ages.

I am very sorry the secondcoming i meant my comment to be light and jokey I am confused as to why the problem, and i think other posters have been a lot more vehement than I have

Ariesgirl · 01/07/2010 13:38

I completely agree with BelleDameSansMerci. Leave everyone alone - if you want to bf, brilliant, if you don't, fine. I've not even given birth yet and may do one thing or the other, but I know damn well I'll tell someone where to get off they spout their holier than thou stuff at me. I was formula fed as a child, as were my brothers and sisters. All of us are intelligent, healthy and not dead yet. And we're also very skinny. I assure you it's not a question of me being ill-educated and ignorant. I will try breast feeding and if it doesn't work out (i.e. makes me, my baby or my OH stressed and unhappy) I will switch. I certainly won't beat myself up about it. I trust that I have the sense to make up formula properly, as I can read.

lilolilmanchester · 01/07/2010 13:54

well said Ariesgirl.
