To put Fairy liquid in the paddling pool so i don't have to give ds a bath?

Ds spends a lot of time every day in the paddling pool. For the last 5 days or so I have taken to putting Fairy liquid in the paddling pool, then not bothering to give him a bath at night.
Is this out of order, lazy parenting, or an efficient use of time?

Well, they don't need a bath absolutely every night anyway, so I say no YANBU to not give DS a bath, but surely Fairy liquid won't be doing his skin any good at all, so I think YABU there.

SagacityNell · 30/06/2010 10:59

do u bath him in fairy liquid normally?

I don't bath mine every night. never have.

Sn0wflake · 30/06/2010 11:00

Can't you put bubble bath in there. Fairy liquid is for dishes not children.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 30/06/2010 11:01

i would nt put fairy liquid in but a bit of showergel/bubblebath would be a good idea

Bessie123 · 30/06/2010 11:01

fairy liquid is terrible for skin, esp children's skin

Ok - maybe the Fairy is a crap idea and I should put bubble bath in - will do that later. It was just handy so I stuck it in. Will bring some bubble bath downstairs!

Really laughing at using Fairy Liquid to bath the baby.

You could put baby bath in the paddling pool instead. Would deffo do this to save 'bathtime horror'. Tis an efficient use of time and multitasking at it's best

JacobBlacksBitch · 30/06/2010 11:05

great idea!

we bath DD every night as part of bedtime routine. But at the moment she really needs it to wash off all the suncream & things that stick to it during the day.

This is genius! im stealing this idea, thankyou very much

babyicebean · 30/06/2010 11:21

Its the only way we can get the youngest bathed at the moment, for some reason he has decided that having a bath in the bath is about the same as being tortured.

I use bubble bath tho, kids have never been so clean and neither have half their friends.

Portofino · 30/06/2010 11:48

I have certainly done this on numerous occasions - using bubble bath/shampoo though. In fact on a couple of holidays, dd was scared of the shower in the mobile home, so it was the most efficient way of getting her clean!

compo · 30/06/2010 12:27

We do this too with bubble bath

jeee · 30/06/2010 12:29

But won't that wreck the grass when you empty the paddling pool - that's the only time my lawns get watered.

tummytickler · 30/06/2010 12:33

I put it on the patio outside the kitchen door as I our lawns are in bright sunlight, patio is a bit shadier, so the grass does not mind! Would it wreck the grass then?

Am finding it funny that you never thought to use bubble bath instead of fairy liquid!

mama2moo · 30/06/2010 12:36

PMSL!! You could put your dishes in their and get him to wash them

Great idea though (with bubble bath)

fifitot · 30/06/2010 12:39

Fairy Liquid is very drying on skin. Yes use bubble bath.

Good idea but I can't nick it as DD has Excema and won't tolerate much on her skin at all tbh.

paisleyleaf · 30/06/2010 13:06

DD has her baths in the garden in the summertime
I don't use fairy though - just her usual shampoo/bodywash etc

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 30/06/2010 13:11

Is he young enough that you use melamine plates and things for him? Stick them in too, three jobs done in one.

jeee · 30/06/2010 13:12

But what about the grass...?

Tryharder · 30/06/2010 13:14

I agree with tortoise. Stick the dirty plates in at the end of the day and get your DS to wash them as part of a fun game.

Sorted.

RobynLou · 30/06/2010 13:15

love the idea of shoving the dishes in too!

how about putting him in in his clothes so they get a wash aswell......

YANBU at all by the way, agree that bubble bath might be better than fairy tho.

paisleyleaf · 30/06/2010 13:15

What about the grass jeee?
I do water the garden with the water afterwards too.
