To put Fairy liquid in the paddling pool so i don't have to give ds a bath?

Ds spends a lot of time every day in the paddling pool. For the last 5 days or so I have taken to putting Fairy liquid in the paddling pool, then not bothering to give him a bath at night.
Is this out of order, lazy parenting, or an efficient use of time?

genius, OP!

I'm going to try it with Daz and sling in the bedlinen

Shelpit · 30/06/2010 13:18

When mine were small I used to put Matey bubblebath in - they loved it!

jeee · 30/06/2010 13:20

Isn't bubbly-stuff bad for the grass then? Am I the only person standing up for the grass?

paisleyleaf · 30/06/2010 13:21

My grass and plants seem fine with the bubbly stuff

SoBloodyTired · 30/06/2010 13:21

I don't think so, when we were wee and needed worms for bait we'd tip a bowl of Fairy bubbly water onto the lawn and stamp our feet, brought them up a treat and the grass never seemed to suffer.

But back then dog poo was white and the holidays lasted for months ...

squashimodo · 30/06/2010 13:27

I don't know why I have never thought of this........fab!

TheFruitWhisperer · 30/06/2010 15:14

Harsh detergents are linked to eczema. Id stop doing this if I were you.

SomeGuy · 30/06/2010 15:24

ROFL, just tip a bottle of bleach in there.

Wanderingsheep · 30/06/2010 15:27

Fairy liquid is awful for skin. It makes my hands all sore and cracked but YANBU to use bubble bath or something to get him clean!

My eco-warrior step-MIL always goes on about using your bathwater to water the plants with.

I've used DS's bathwater on a regular basis to water my plants and they've all done very well!

anonymousbird · 30/06/2010 16:31

My two have been bathing outside for the last week or so, but didn't resort to Fairy Liquid!!!!

Used their usual "safe" bath stuff and even have the luxury of a hot tap outside to warm it up a bit.... fancy getting in myself!!!!

vaunieathome · 30/06/2010 17:56

love the liquified fairies - hilarious!! Reminds me of my dh's joke about baby oil - "made from freshly pressed babies"!!

LittleSilver · 30/06/2010 20:12

BUbble bath woman, bubble bath! NOT fairy liquid, that stuff is hell on skin!

mumofthreesweeties · 30/06/2010 20:24

cant believe you would use Fairy of all things.... do you usually bath in Fairy liquid then, as in you buy Fairy liquid for bathtime? Finding it hard to actually get to grips that someone would use Fairy for a bath. I find it both equally unbelievable and hilarious. YABU to use fairy liquid for a bath but NU for doubling up paddling and bath time....just maybe use bubble bath next time. As to the posters suggesting multi tasking with putting the dishes in the pool as well, I literally spat out my coffee on my keyboard at that. Too too funny

nbee84 · 30/06/2010 20:28

When I was little, if we ran out of bubble bath, Mum would use some Fairy instead

tafettacat · 30/06/2010 20:36

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Unless your DS has eczema or dry skin of course or if Fairy is outlawed for eco reasons, unless the grass is getting damaged etc etc.

Love it.

expatinscotland · 30/06/2010 20:39

I think I'd switch to bubble bath for kids, but otherwise, hell, yeah!

colditz · 30/06/2010 20:42

i do this with bubble bath

williewalshsballs · 30/06/2010 21:19

dishes and clothes too - genius

listenandlearn · 30/06/2010 21:29

As nbee84 says my mum used to put it in bath two when weed run out of b.bath

Hulababy · 30/06/2010 21:31

I haven;t done nightly baths for years. DD is 8y. She has a couple of quickie baths in a morning and maybe a shower or two too. Does her hair a couple of times a week. Rest of time it is a flannel wash at the sink in a morning and that;s it.

DD does, however, put bubble bath or bath bombs into her paddling pool!

Hulababy · 30/06/2010 21:33

Our grass copes admirably with bubble bath and bath bombs BTW.

deste · 30/06/2010 23:03

Just take the car round and get that done as well, in fact get all the neighbours cars round. Thats after the clothes and dishes are finished of course. If there is any water left splosh it on the windows.

gtamom · 01/07/2010 07:45

Soap is a good insecticide. In the "olden days" it was common to dump your dirty dishwater on your plants in the garden. But as mentioned a zillion times, dish soap is harsher on the skin than bubble bath.
