She is having a bad hair day and so is walking round with the hood up on her hoody looking like someone from the getto

Drivermamsstorytrain · 19/06/2010 19:33

shes in the house! i can only assume that most people have at some point seen her with her legs akimbo and sh*t all over when in nappies. Bad hair? who does she think cares? coz it probably ain't her parents! yanbu

pogleswife · 19/06/2010 19:37

we have a saying in our house 'don't sweat the small stuff'
i think this is small stuff ergo YABU

Dmst - no need to be crude

leave the poor girl alone, at least she's indoors and not hanging around a street corner. it would be different if you had guests or were sitting round the table eating. If you can't slob out at home where can you ?

DavinaMcCall · 19/06/2010 19:42

YABU, if that's the level of problem you have with your 17yo you are doing exceptionally well.

Assuming you don't have guests, why on earth does it matter?

saturdaygirl · 19/06/2010 19:44

we have got guests round - my sister and family are here

usualsuspect · 19/06/2010 19:47

yabu ...my ds walks around in a floppy woolly hat

nzshar · 19/06/2010 19:49

YABU

Shelpit · 19/06/2010 19:55

Your sister isn't a visitor....she is family! Give the girl a break - its her home, she should feel able to wear a hoodie on a bad hair there more than anywhere else.

Threelittlemoomins · 19/06/2010 19:57

YABU
There is so much worse that she could be doing at 17.

hopalongdagger · 19/06/2010 19:58

YABU, she's obviously feeling very sensitive about her hair. Does it really matter?

AgentZigzag · 19/06/2010 20:01

I actually thought you were joking when I answered above, YADBU if you're genuinely getting pissed off with her for having her hood up inside.

dustycups · 19/06/2010 20:05

i walk round with my hood up sometimes when im having one of those days!! its a secure feeling!!! prehaps its the time of the month and she feeling a bit rough!!

jaffacake2 · 19/06/2010 20:06

I just get so much pleasure seeing my 17yr old wandering around in all her funny hats, hoodies, ripped jeans etc.

Cos this time last year she had a large tumour removed and we thought we were going to lose her.
Just love her being healthy and with me.

sometimesgirl · 19/06/2010 20:15

I am so glad that your daughter is well and obviously you have your own personal reasons for not having a problem with hoodies. But on the whole I think Hoodies are threatening looking and agressive. I have a teenage daughter who also roams around in her hoody. I have noticed that when she does not have her hoody on she is quite reasonable and will reply to me. BUT when she wears her hoody she is RUDE, LOOKS AGRESSIVE AND ONLY GRUNTS REPLIES! So YANBU to expect her to keep it off in the house! BIG HUGS!

saturdaygirl · 19/06/2010 20:19

sometimes girl - thanks for the support. Could I just say your name is very similar to my and could cause confusion. May I respectfully suggest that you change it?

OP posts:
bruffin · 19/06/2010 20:21

maybe Sometimesgirl when your dd wears her hoody like that she is in a bad mood and thats why she grunts etc the hoody is the sympton no the cause.

jaffacake2 · 19/06/2010 20:21

Thanks,
I guess its like dealing with them when they are younger and start pushing boundaries, just ignore the rudeness completely and only aknowledge when being reasonable.
Its no fun grunting and being aggressive without an audience, also no fun then to not have lifts, allowance and all the other extras.Suddenly attitudes change for the better!!!

nzshar · 19/06/2010 20:23

I only wish that hoodies were around more when I was 17 and I may have been able to divert some attention away from myself from my toxic family ( not saying that your family is toxic in any way op) and as an aside saturdaygirl and sometimesgirl are very different IMHO

sometimesgirl · 19/06/2010 20:29

Just wanted to apologise to Saturday girl because you do seem a little upset about my name. I am new to this network and therefore chose my name because I sometimes log on to the network...so. Whats the expression???JOG ON!

Firawla · 19/06/2010 20:32

yabu its not worth an argument
