To think baby fashion is stupid

Was in Asda the other day got my 6 week old a pack of 3 sleeveless sleepsuits for £2, didn't have any normal ones in his size, wondered where DF was, found him looking at over priced little T-shirt and jeans sets and baby hoodies, he said he would like to get DS a pair of jeans.

He has also looked at pairs of converse all stars for babies before.

Now there must be a market out there for this stuff or it wouldn't be there but why the hell would a baby need mini versions of adult stuff, I mean mini all stars for babies that can't even walk, 5 pocket jeans what the hell is he going to put in the pockets.

It's madness I tell you, am I alone in thinking a baby can stay in sleepsuits/vests + hats and socks until they are walking.

Oh no just noticed 2010!?

wishmiplass · 12/01/2015 14:51

Oh I don't know. I often like to get DS (9m) dressed up in his plus fours or tux on occasion...

my ds 13 months lives in tights and leggings. He needs to be able to move!! My older children wear what they like, Skinny jeans, tights high tops which take ages to put on!!

I remember a mate of mine telling me off for keeping my girls (6m at the time) in babygros because, she said, you had to get them used to clothes in advance or else they wouldn't want to wear them Confused.

Babygrows/ sleepsuits are pjs, personaly I would judge a child out of the house in pjs unless at the doctor's unwell. Most baby clothes are made from lovely material and any jeans my dds wore were soft cotton lined.

Sleepsuits on anybaby over a year looks like they are not being dressed properly imo ive never met anyone in rl that baby goes out in sleepwear.

Jeans, pockets and collars are daft.

DD1 did have little lace up soft boots once she was older.

They were much more successful than socks which she took off and chewed.

I love baby fashions and I loved dressing my children up. It reminded me of how I used to play with my dolls and dress them up.

In saying that, they spend most of their time in babygros, as I couldn't be bothered with the faff. Plus babygros were more comfortable.

Considering that an average 1-month old sleeps about 16 hours out of 24, makes total sense to me to keep them in sleep clothes.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 13/01/2015 09:36

SeeChoo what age would you judge them from? Until DD was 4 months I rarely put her in 'outfits', just a clean sleepsuit! After that it did feel a little bit like people would think id just forgotten to get her dressed. She's 14 months now and I had to drop my DH off at hospital quite early in the morning so she was in a sleepsuit, I worried that the neighbours would be judging me for taking her out in her pyjamas!

Hazlenutt I wish my DD has slept that much at 1 month Smile.
