To have drunk a glass of wine.

DH phoned to say he is leaving the office, and is on his way home.

Way-hey , I thought, and poured my self a glass of wine (which I've downed quite quickly)

He's now phoned to say he's run out of petrol (serves him right for always thinking he can drive around with the orange light on) and that he is going to walk to the nearest petrol station with a his petrol can (which he has in the car)

I said "I would have come and got you, but I've had a glass of wine, so I can't)

He said "Fine" in a narky tone, and hung up.

Is it really that unreasonable to open the wine? I have warned DC to be careful becuase I can't drive them to A&E if they need to go. (They were sliding down the stairs in their sleeping bags)

A friend of ours who is a doctor and I know for a fact doesn't drink at all was away for a weekend when her younger dd fell downstairs.

4 days later they took her to the hospital - she'd broken her leg but was walking on it normally!

It can happen to anyone!

I broke the scaphoid bone in my wrist while pg with ds (dd1 was around 1 year). It was six days till I realised. I had not been drinking!

clam · 11/06/2010 23:34

Yes, my dd is Fantastic. Good upbringing!! But she is also prone to exaggerating, like her mum. As I've found this evening when I took her to a and e with a painful ankle to be politely told to go away and stop wasting their time!

And now I must step away, as I can't cope with arguing from an I-phone. Too much like hard work.

Hulababy

You make a valid point, yes non drivers are irresponsible if they are incapable when they need to address an urgent situation.
Surely you would agree that turning up at the hospital halfcut with your child is not a good look in anyones book?

Answer that please

Rousse · 11/06/2010 23:39

Clam

See? You are overcompensating, taking your poor child to a&e when there is nothing wrong with her!

Guilt is a terrible thing ;)

Valpollicella · 11/06/2010 23:40
