There's one that comes round here at 9 o' clock most nights, playing the match of the day theme tune reeeeeally loud and stops right outside my front door. I've never bought anything from it and have never seen anybody else do so. I suspect its selling more than just ice cream
at your posh cornish ice cream.

debka · 11/06/2010 20:13

why do you all have ice cream vans near you and I don't?

Firawla · 11/06/2010 20:19

yabu i think its nice to see them, it brings joy to people and it reminds me of being a kid, its just a simple pleasure in life where is the harm? i was at the park today, heard the icecream van sound and all the kids quickly ran to go ask parents can they go get an ice cream, i find that cute to see that they get excited from a simple thing and enjoying themselves, its part of summer to have icecream vans

dinkystinky · 11/06/2010 20:25

YABU. Though when I'm wrangling small people into bed and the bloody icecream van drives onto our street blaring music outside our house every single fricking night April through to September I do tend to think about sending Mr Whippy where the sun dont shine...

Morloth that makes me anxious. I understand your heritage - but I was brought up in London Suburbia. Nevertheless, I love sheep lips in all their guises.

I think Hassled strikes the right note, with her point that ice-cream van men serve two important community functions: filling out paedophile line-ups, and providing aerated lard on tap. Thank you Hassled, for putting this ludicrous AIBU into perspective.

YABU, There is nothing wrong with icecream vans unless they are trying to sell right outside a school.

blueshoes · 11/06/2010 21:50

Only if they have proper pictures of the ice creams.

Wanderingsheep · 11/06/2010 22:06

YABU!

There's nothing better on a hot summers day than getting an ice cream from an ice cream van! I love it when you're sitting out in the garden and you can hear the music from the van.

Brings back memories of when I was little. The ice cream man who used to come around our way used to stick his hand out of the window and ring a bell! My friend and I always used to be playing out and we would run down the cul-de-sac as fast as our legs could carry us shouting "ice cream, ice cream!"

Ooh now I'm craving a mr whippy!

Lynettescavo, an alcohol van sounds like a good idea there are often times when I could do with a G & T at 3 pm!

Hulababy · 11/06/2010 22:16

I like the whippy ice cream you get from ice cream mans. You can't buy that for your home. I missed whippy ice cream when I was pregnant.

Hulababy · 11/06/2010 22:19

LynetteScavo - I want an alcohol van. Will he sell Pimms in the summer? And can he add chocolate too?
