Genuine opinions and thoughts please. DD approached by local old man (in effect a stranger as we don't know him other than by sight) yesterday and was offered choc but told by him to ask me first and he would give it her when he next saw her. DD reported it to me after school and I said if he approached her again to say no thanks and continue onto school. Walked dd to school today and i was approached asking if dd could have choc by same man. He's not allowed it and doesn't want it to go to waste. I said no thanks and dd continued onto school, man not bothered and says no problem re choc. DD went into school upset and reports she has been offered choc, mum said no but man approached again after mum left (??). Headteacher now involved and has contacted police, not sure if required in my opinion. My thoughts are that it was innocent and he was being nice if not very foolish. What does everyone think - innocent but foolish or something more sinister?

Agree TSC. I've been musing about this and thinking that my Nan, who is well into her 80's is aware that children are taught to never take sweets from strangers - so why does he seem blissfully unaware of this?

(I don't think the guy was a honking great pedlo, before anyone starts saying that I see perverts on every street corner BTW)

Innocent but foolish.

It is rather sad that we must have all of these thoughts.

However fact is that you cannot be sure and it is a big risk.

On the other hand I feel sorry for the man if he was just innocent but foolish. Dont forget the old generation is still a bit different...

its sad that we have to worry so much about our children nowadays, i hate it, im paranoid about everything! its a sad world now dont you think?

i think you cant be too careful in my opinion, it could be harmless but i just wouldnt take the risk, its a shame that every MAN nowadays is deemed as a threat by somthing like that, although i think woman can be just as bad a threat also, cant really trust anyone nowadays x
