my hair is longish and although ive always wanted it long, it irritates me so much and i dont want to always have to wear it up ( i look ridiculous)

my dh -really- doesn't want me to have it cut, he says he loves it long, regardless of the fact i cant really kiss him in bed etc without it going in our mouths etc and it gets in the way contantly.

a) go get it cut without his knowledge
b) beg him for permission and money for the cut
c) suck it up and keep it up

it sounds shallow but i always feel good when my hair is nice. i dont have the time or the energy to do anything special with it. just feel if it was shorter it would be easier to manage.

(havent had it cut in about 1 1/2 years )

What sort of style is it in? You can still keep it nice with some long layers and conditioning treatments.

PuppyMonkey · 04/06/2010 17:27

Sorry, where does the lovechild come into it?

Sn0wflake · 04/06/2010 17:28

You do what makes you feel good...you don't exist for your husbands gratification! Go get the cut you want and don't scurry around hiding the fact woman!

Sn0wflake · 04/06/2010 17:29

Yeah, also what PuppyMonkey said.

Northernlurker · 04/06/2010 17:29

You realise people are going to pile on here to give advice about your illegitimate offspring don't you.....?

I would get the hair cut a bit btw - see how you both like it

minipie · 04/06/2010 17:30

Lovechild - as in "the lovechild of AIBU and WWYD if they had a child together"

I presume?

zerominuszero · 04/06/2010 17:30

Your OH is being massively unreasonable. I feel very strongly that haircuts and the like are totally up to the individual not the partner, so if he doesn't like it, shove it.

PuppyMonkey · 04/06/2010 17:32

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I get it now

But yes I only clicked on it cos I thought it was going to be a really juicy bunfight about someone calling your dc a lovechild as an insult.

ninah · 04/06/2010 17:34

beg him for permission and money to cut your own hair
this is a wind up, right?

Jamieandhismagictorch · 04/06/2010 17:37

Will reply assuming it is for real.

Some people are massively conservative about hair - woman=long hair.

You can show him that you can still look feminine (if that's his thing) with shorter hair - not that you have to do anything to solely please him, mind you.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 04/06/2010 17:39

how can you do a) if you have to "beg him" for the money?

Firawla · 04/06/2010 17:41

its up to you, i think begging him to have to cut it is a bit much. if you want it cut get it cut, he will get over it

RunawayWife · 04/06/2010 17:41

Your hair your choice.

Scaredycat3000 · 04/06/2010 17:44

My DP thinks I should have long hair. I ignore him, he doesn't have to look after it.
It just means I don't expect compliments from him ever when I get my hair cut. And I don't care

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 04/06/2010 17:44

I really thought this was going to be about a real love child.

sockmonkey · 04/06/2010 17:46
colditz · 04/06/2010 17:47

You do not need anyone's permission to arrange your body how you feel.

PortiaNovmerriment · 04/06/2010 17:47

How long is your hair anyway? I am assuming your husband isn't actually a sexist pig control freak but just loves your hair and would be disappointed if you chopped it off, but correct me if I'm wrong. Need more information!

WitchyWooWoo · 04/06/2010 17:48

i dont have to beg him for money, that was tongue in cheek we have a joint account so would obv just take some pennies from that.

the lovechild idea is right.. a strange hybrid of aibu and wwyd.

ive just asked dh "would you be ok to watch ds while i get my hair cut shorter" when he got in... said yep

hmm maybe his resistance to this was all in my head, hehe

I am exactly the same as you, have finally got hair to below back shoulder blades kind of length and it is hacking me off!! I used to have a shaggy crop, and after that a bob style with a sharp fringe and I feel dull and unkempt now, despite having longed to tie it up! But I'm due with our first DC in about 8 wks and keep telling myself this will be easy maintenance...but I reckon I won't last much longer before going for the chop! I do worry that as not such a skinny minny now (size 16 so not huge) I can't pull off short styles any more.

Anyway, as you were!

runnybottom · 04/06/2010 18:37
Hmm
WitchyWooWoo · 04/06/2010 19:03

my hair is below my shoulders... and in true unkempt style, goes absolutely everywhere, and always knots (plus gets sucked into the back of my hairdryer)

apologies to the lovely mums who thought this would be interesting... its not. my next will be i promise

im a size 18 (16 on a good day) mrsc do wondering whether i can google chubby lady hair and find a suitable hairstyle, or will i need the mindbleach?

"b) beg him for permission and money for the cut"

This has to be a wind up. This is your hair and you have to beg for permission and money.

Grant yourself permission and grow a
back bone.

For the record hair longer than the bottom of your shoulders looks hideous on anyone.

posieparker · 04/06/2010 19:07

So no bloody point anyway!!

WitchyWooWoo · 04/06/2010 19:09

ive already said that part was tongue and cheek

wonder if theres anything available tomorrow
