okay,so i've just had a baby...but i'm still fat you can't wear any nice summer dresses, your cropped trousers don't fit accross your humungus arse and thighs..and you can't wear vest tops because of mammoth baps and flabby upper armage!
i wish it was december

and it's so much harder to handle the heat!

heth1980 · 03/06/2010 10:33

I'm with you on that one. I had DD2 16 weeks ago and didn't lose the weight from DD1 before that.......I'm 3 stone heavier than I used to be and absolutely hating it!! I put a vest top on first thing but had to put a t-shirt over it to go out cos I'm so embarassed by the size of my arms

motherbeyond · 03/06/2010 10:42

god,i know..i can't diet cos im b.f...but i'm tryng to be healthy.chicken salad for tea etc...the only thing is,i can't stop eating chocolate!!!ds2 is 3 weeks and i'm so sleep deprived at night and run ragged in the day (have 3 under 4 1/2)i can't have a vodka at night,so i feel i deserve a bloody treat..or two...or three

i feel like hiding in the house in my dressing gown,so then i don't have to go through the depressing rigmerole that is getting dressed!!

but not an option.

I'm fat post pregnancy and was a bit pre pregnancy but I think you just have to buy large airy cotton clothes and try and look bohemian and have a good time. Try to crowd out the negative voices and enjoy fab weather (and maybe get some fake tan). Come on we are great really!

MathsMadMummy · 03/06/2010 11:02

what I'm trying to do is go out walking and wearing comfortable clothes without worrying too much about what I look like. I don't have a choice now - DD just started nursery so I'll be doing the 1 mile walk 8 extra times a week! It all helps. just have to avoid the shop next to the nursery

Northernlurker · 03/06/2010 11:20

Come on ladies be kind to yourselves! So you're not the size you were last summer - just buy one or two comfy things and be glad that you're protecting your skin by covering up a little bit

darkandstormy · 03/06/2010 12:03

get out and about, optimise the nice weather to lose some weight.

darkandstormy · 03/06/2010 12:04

mean't to add you probably feel bigger to yourself than you look iyswim

motherbeyond · 03/06/2010 12:09

well you're right about the false tan...fat always looks better brown!!

i just resent spending money on 'in-between' clothes! but i did buy a flor lengh black maxi dress.it only exposes my arms, which are not toooo bad.only problem is b.feeding in public.you have to wap whole boob out over the top!i haven't got the hang of discreet feeding yet...should anyone care to give any tips!!

What NL said

motherbeyond - with a 3 week old BFing you need to make sure you're eating enough or you'll be exhausted (and crave chocolate ).
And you can have a drink in the evening, maybe not vodka but wine is fine. If you drink it while you are feeding or just after, then by the time you feed again it will have gone from your milk

waitingimpatiently · 03/06/2010 12:34

Not at all I'm fat, pregnant and due September so, as everyone keeps reminding me, I have the worst of the summer to be fat and pregnant. And I'm doing the race for life at the end of the month... What was I thinking?

prettyfly1 · 03/06/2010 12:38

MB - What about getting some lovely light pashminas - you can cover the wobblies without getting too hot and cover your boobs when feeding ??

prettyfly1 · 03/06/2010 12:39

p.s I too am struggling with post baby weight loss - I keep looking longingly at svelte stylish twenty one year old girls - god knows what they must think of me

MathsMadMummy · 03/06/2010 12:42

I'm doing (walking not running) race for life too! can't wait.

waitingimpatiently · 03/06/2010 12:52

I can't wait but I hope the weather is evil that day. Haha I'm waddling round!

motherbeyond · 03/06/2010 13:04

good luck with the race for life...well done

prettyfly1 i'm with you on that, feel exactly the same.we're going to the algarve at the end ofjuly and im dreading it.usually i hammer the gym to get an almost acceptable bikini bod..this year?no chance. and i'll have to look at all the bikini clad biatches lovlies! i refuse to leave the room, dammit!

blimey mb give yourself a break - you've got a 3 week-old baby! If that isn't the perfect reason not to be in shape then I don't know what. Plus you probably know, since this is ds2, that this time goes really quick so you want to try to make the most of it - there'll always be another time to lose weight but he'll never be this tiny again.

Try to avoid talking/thinking in that way as well - 'hummungus' 'mammoth' 'flabby'- because it's dehumanising yourself. Look past the svelte girls and you'll see loads of other imperfect people just getting out and enjoying the sun before it disappears for another 3 months! Plus have a look in at the dieting threads - loads of useful stuff and support on there

dinkystinky · 03/06/2010 17:13

MB - get down to Primark or New Look and get some cheap but stylish stuff you feel happy in. And give yourself a break.

pointydog · 03/06/2010 17:21

yup, find something you do feel happy in - a swishy skirt and three quarter sleeve t-shirt? Pretty patterned t-shirts and cropped trousers a size up? Anything that makes you feel feminine and happier.

allbie · 03/06/2010 17:23

My DS4 was about 16wks when I started running with him in his mc 3wheeler. I ran before and as soon as I was able, got out with him. I have 4 kids and toned up real quick. Be brave and get out there. You don't need to run...set out early and walk fast...then come home and have breakfast! You can shed the weight at your own rate and feel good about yourself. You are worth it!!!And take child with you...get a buggy board if you've got an older one too.

mitfordsisters · 03/06/2010 18:19

I feel your pain. I'm pregnant and will be bf all summer. I am wearing massive earrings and scarves to dwarf my obvious bulk, and elastic waist bands

MathsMadMummy · 03/06/2010 20:16

I also found that I feel much better after I finally gave in and bought some new clothes. For ages I'd been saying I didn't deserve any but DH and my mum were right, I did, and I feel so much better now that I can just throw on some decent clothes and go out more!

phoenixflower · 03/06/2010 22:22

YANBU, I feel the same!! Won't wear sleeveless tops as feel my upper arms are currently too fat! Was out with a friend today who has got no fat on her atall and was very jelous. Oh how I would love to be wearing a size 8 ( dreams)

phoenixflower · 03/06/2010 22:23

or even a sizd 18 would be a nice start for me!!
