okay,so i've just had a baby...but i'm still fat you can't wear any nice summer dresses, your cropped trousers don't fit accross your humungus arse and thighs..and you can't wear vest tops because of mammoth baps and flabby upper armage!
i wish it was december

I'm a 22 and wear all those things, there is more to life about worrying about other peoples perceptions of your body.

motherbeyond · 04/06/2010 07:41

nooooo,it's not just about what other people think though is it? it's how you feel about yourself.i was raised by a gym mad mum,who brought me up to be body conscious..if i was a 12 that was too big.
i only feel happy when i'm slim,that's probably wrong,but it's how i feel.

i enjoy doing aerobic classes.before i had kids i did 3 double classes a week.now i have 3 kids and no time to do that.i try and swim whenever i can.

just hate this stage. i normally love the sun,but when i feel like this it really makes me want to stay indoors!

and the cruel thing is, before we know it, it'll be winter and dark and cold and yuk.

we're going for a pre-nap walk this morning, although it'll be at DD's pace.

motherbeyond · 04/06/2010 11:00

Yeah, must be nice to be able to afford a personal trainer and a nanny to look after your baby while you're working out . Makes the rest of us feel bad though. I can sympathise, I'm 12 weeks pp and didn't care that I still had a tummy - until I went out without DD one day and someone thought I was pregnant

Cloudbase · 04/06/2010 12:50

Oh, I feel your pain. Over the last 3 years and DD1 and DS2, I have put on 5 stone so totally understand - one hour in the heat and I sweat like I am in a sauna, and everything feels uncomfortable.

Every year I say "That's my last fat summer" but somehow never has been. However, have just joined a gym and although haven't lost any weight yet, I do feel healthier.

Evans do these fab maxi dresses at the mo in purple, black and green and pink and they actually nake me feel quite sexy and stylish (so long as I don't turn sideways to the mirror ) but I actually feel part of the human race wearing them, instead of just Fat-Mummy person.

Here and it looks much more forgiving in real life than it does on the mannequin - I am a 20 and it looks fab

porcamiseria · 04/06/2010 13:21

get some fake tan (invest in a good one) and look for tummy hiding clothes, like kaftans and

also use the weather to eat healthy and get some exercise

fat brown is better than fat pale, trust me!

I am 7 months PG and now I have tan I rock!!!!

We went to the beach yesterday and i saw some very large ladies in swimming costumes. Good luck to them! Why should only the young and gorgeous enjoy the sun? I had a hard job persuading my slightly overweight 15 yo to put shorts on instead of jeans before we left the house. I hate this attitude of "my body isn't good enough". My dd got her shorts wet in the sea and had a good time playing ball on the sand with her siblings in the end, instead of staying at home locked to her laptop.

And now I must get off the computer before some one rightly calls me a hypocrite and go and do something real!

HeadFairy · 04/06/2010 13:54

MB I know we're meant to be embracing our curviness but I just wanted to let you know you can diet when you're bfing. Perhaps 3 weeks is a bit early to start because you're still in the pit of darkness as I like to call the first 6 weeks after you've had a baby However, I've been low carbing since dd was 10 weeks old and I've lost 2 stone since then (she's 22 weeks now). I have never managed to sustain weight loss for that length of time so the bfing must be helping. It's certainly adding to my resolve to keep bfing dd as long as possible

so is that just cutting down on bread and tatoes?..was planning on having baked tato and feta salad for tea!
went to be measured for a new bra today..as currently when i lie down my boobs fall out!they are feeding bras and i'd guessed at the size..34 d.so i went to be properly measured and was...a 38 ff!!i felt like pat evans.the changing room had the 360 mirrors,so i could see every roll and the hint of the double chin...not good!
am going to do 10 mins on the treadmill [in garage] tonight and build up frm there.
i bought 3 maxi dresses and some gladiatory type sandals...the dresses are all going back.at least my feet looked nice {smile]

yeah, don't worry about it now, but in a few weeks give it a whirl. It's great if you like cheese because instead of biscuits or something else for a snack, I have a piece of cheese. I do have some carbs, can't go bonkers an all that. I try and stick to a slice of bread a day (or equivalent) so I might have scrambled eggs on one slice of toast for breakfast.

I try and make sure if I do have any carbs, it's at only one meal, and try and avoid meals that are predominately carb (like pasta or rice based meals).

I'm very impressed at you getting on the treadmill only 3 weeks after having a baby, but be careful with the high impact stuff. Your joints will still be super flexible from all those pregnancy hormones. Just take it easy for a few more weeks. The weight loss can wait.

knickers0nmyhead · 04/06/2010 21:12

Size 18 here and used to think the same as you...now I think actually...why should I care what other people think of how I look in vest tops and shorts!!!!!

Say bollocks to it...get yer kit orf

MathsMadMummy · 04/06/2010 21:24

I really like the Davina postnatal workout DVD by the way.

flossielimejuice · 04/06/2010 21:29

yes totally with you
and everything rides up!

14hourstillbedtime · 04/06/2010 21:57

God, I thought wine in the evenings was required when you have a new baby!

DD is 6 weeks and even though have DS (3) to run after still have weight to lose (obviously...) Go buy yourself one or two new things to tide you over.. oh, and to heck with the discreet breast-feeding - just wop em out, wop em back and go run after the toddler!

siobhan3079 · 05/06/2010 09:05

I know how you feel. I have a 9 wk old and hate summer clothes anyway however this year the misery is even more compounded. I begrudgingly went to matalan to buy bigger tops etc and to be honest i am glad i did. Its totally depressing looking at my old summer wardrobe however knowing i have summer clothes options albeit bigger has made me feel better. give yourself a budget of £20. go 2 primark or matalan and try and cheer youself up. sorry about lack of cap letters trying to type with one hand!

motherbeyond · 05/06/2010 18:21

don't be too impressed headfairy..i didn't go on the treadmill in the end... i watched britains got talent with a v&t and a dairy milk!DAMMIT!!
