To think that babies should not eat macdonalds?

Ok I went shopping and popped into MacDonalds on the way home for a drink and a filet of fish, while there I got out a high chair and fed my baby some solids (that I had bought with me).

Next table across I see a baby who at a guess looked about 8-9 months old in a high chair - and see that she is being fed french fries, lemonade and chicken nuggets?? I was very shocked at this - at one point I heard the parents say come on now, finish your lemonade as they fed it cup like to her?

.. and yes I have decided not to go anymore as I obviously am not setting my child a good example.

.. out of interest those of you who have children, what was the youngest age that your children had french fries??
.. is it common practice??

We neither desire or expect you to do so StuckIntheMiddlewithyou.

I really fancy liver and bacon risotto now. And a Cheeseburger from Mcds. Darn this being in active convos.

Everyone has their own choices, as long as they are aware of all the facts. I am aware that there are healtheir meals out there, but chose to feed my children a happy meal once every couple of weeks as its my choice.

I am also aware of the whole Nestle information but choose not to join in the boycott myself and have no guilt in eating my shreddies. Everyone has their own things to fight, and thats not one of my choices. Doesnt make me a twat though.

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 29/05/2010 12:05

Why are you bothering to try and justify yourself to me then?

To be fair, there is always the Greggs sausage roll with a fruit shoot option.

LetThereBeRock · 29/05/2010 12:07

I'm not.I don't give a toss what you think though your arrogance annoys me. I'm merely stating my opinion as you did yours.

Fair enough, however liver is fab source of vit D, A and iron amongst other things.
(I suppose foie gras is frowned upon around here.... lick lips)

LetThereBeRock · 29/05/2010 12:09

I don't know. You'd have to ask Stuckinthemiddle and see if it's on her boycott list.

posieparker · 29/05/2010 12:10

Stuck...Do you and your children eat out ever?

porcamiseria · 29/05/2010 12:11

OP, sounds like a good way of using up McDs.

KodakTheBat · 29/05/2010 12:13

Only 99p for a cheeseburger SITMWY.

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 29/05/2010 12:14

MacDonalds isn't that cheap anyway. It's simply percieved as such because many less educated (and unfortunately this often means on a lower income) eat there. It's snobbery..

"Oh look that restaurant is full of poor people... it must be cheap"

KodakTheBat · 29/05/2010 12:14

You could try somewhere that isn't a chain... crazy idea I know...

LetThereBeRock · 29/05/2010 12:17

£3.99 for beans on toast? Are they magical beans and does the toast arrive on a golden platter?

Stuck, unless you haven;t noticed there aren't an abundance of independent cafes on our high streets because the prices are too high.

LetThereBeRock · 29/05/2010 12:20

I'm going to be eating out tonight and in a chain.
It's a local chain however and the owner is a family friend. Is that acceptable to you Stuckinthemiddle?

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 29/05/2010 12:21

I have lived in:

London, Oxford, Norwich, York, Newcastle and Sheffield.

All had plenty of places to eat other than crap chains.

Can't comment on Glasgow.

posieparker · 29/05/2010 12:22

I live in Bristol and there are none in the two main shopping centres.
