To think that babies should not eat macdonalds?

Ok I went shopping and popped into MacDonalds on the way home for a drink and a filet of fish, while there I got out a high chair and fed my baby some solids (that I had bought with me).

Next table across I see a baby who at a guess looked about 8-9 months old in a high chair - and see that she is being fed french fries, lemonade and chicken nuggets?? I was very shocked at this - at one point I heard the parents say come on now, finish your lemonade as they fed it cup like to her?

.. and yes I have decided not to go anymore as I obviously am not setting my child a good example.

.. out of interest those of you who have children, what was the youngest age that your children had french fries??
.. is it common practice??

No, not paranoid, worked with McDee group for many years.
Must leave it at that.

slushy06 · 29/05/2010 11:04

'Its a safe LIMIT not something to aim for'

OnEdge · 29/05/2010 11:04

Lemonmelon

yeeeeessssss, I Do realise I am not aiming to ensure that my children eat 100% of their RDA. I was just pointing out that this meal contained 1/2 of her RDA of salt.

Are you aware of how patronising and condesending you sound making judgements like that? Not to mention insulting !

slushy06 · 29/05/2010 11:05

No one said it was healthy just that one in a while wont hurt.

KodakTheBat · 29/05/2010 11:05

"Why not make your own burgers and chips, its so easy yet so yummy."

Oh because those of us that have said our DC have an occassional McD's obviously feed them KFC, Pizza Hut and Frozen ready meals from Iceland the rest of the time

Why not loosen up a little but eh?

silverdogflower · 29/05/2010 11:09

You never know really about other people's lives. A few years ago you would have seen me in Mcd's feeding 3 small DCs burgers etc as I has just had bad car accident (not my fault and no injuries luckily) and was too weepy and shaken to drive home. Went to nearest McDs and let kids eat whatever whilst I regained my composure.

As long as children not being hit, screamed at, humiliated etc I say live and let live. Bad days happen to us all.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 29/05/2010 11:11

well, today you will see me in McDs feeding 1 small DC some chicken and chips, and maybe even an icecream...I don't feel it needs justifying by having been in a car accident.

Judge away!!!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 29/05/2010 11:12

and it's not even a bad day here, it's sad that people feel you are only "allowed" to go there if it's a BAD day and there are extenuating circumstances.

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 29/05/2010 11:13

The only reason I go into MacDonalds is to use the toilet. You have to be pretty desperate to eat the food.

OnEdge · 29/05/2010 11:13

I don't class chips fishfingers and milk as shit.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 29/05/2010 11:14

sorry, silverdogflower, my "judge away" wasn't directed at YOU, it's just sad to me that people feel they have to justifying eating McDs by saying horrible things had happened, like its a CRIME.

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 29/05/2010 11:15

Not to mention the fact that, morally, you are better off supporting local business.

silverdogflower · 29/05/2010 11:16

Absolutley wasn't judging!! Just making a point that other people's lives aren't our business!

I still go to McDs all the time with Dcs - don't require a bad day or car accident.

KodakTheBat · 29/05/2010 11:18

Tis a crime Fanjo, apparently. Wouldn't be suprised if those of us that have admitted this sin will get a knock on the door from social services later offering us free cooking lessons.

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 29/05/2010 11:18

I AM judging people who eat in there.

You eat that stuff, you're an idiot. Flame away...

LetThereBeRock · 29/05/2010 11:21

All this hysteria about McDonalds is making me want to go there for lunch.
Unfortunately as I lack a small child to feed it to I'll have to borrow one from friends.

see the numpties are out in force today. what was it someone once said? let he who is without sin cast the first stone? so some posters out there have never given their children McD, or fruitshoots or crisps or let them watch too much tv, left them in a nappy too long..................

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 29/05/2010 11:26

Hey, you're entitled to your opinion. It doesn't change a thing though.

www.mcspotlight.org/

There is this bizarre idea these days that all choices are equally valid. They are not.

slushy06 · 29/05/2010 11:26

I don't really give a shit about being judged by a stuck-up uptight idiot.

Bet I have a hell of a lot more fun no point living if you don't feel alive. Right off to take the kids to mac'ds now maybe get a gun toking film for after and then sit down and enjoy a line or two, all with the dc of course see ya l8ter.

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 29/05/2010 11:27

The health issue is really a side issue.

StuckInTheMiddleWithYou · 29/05/2010 11:30

I suppose you all eat nestle too... urgh.

LetThereBeRock · 29/05/2010 11:31

...adds Kit Kats and After Eights to her shopping list. Thanks for reminding me. I haven't had either of those for ages.
