I was thinking of your peace of mind....if you can smell smoke and can't find the source in your house I would call the fire brigade ...are you sure it's cigarette smoke?

BramblyHedge · 07/05/2010 00:33

Do you have airbricks close to a path/ pavement - we live next to the pavement and when people stuff cigs outside our door, it can waft in through airbricks.

SwissMonsterRavingCheesyParty · 07/05/2010 00:35

Smells like it.

Windows are quite draughty tho but its not strong in one area iyswim ??

Just in the air type smell.

Do you have an air brick in the room? Our neighbour's cigarette smoke gets in that way.

majafa · 07/05/2010 10:17

..Hope alls ok

gtamom · 07/05/2010 10:31

Anything new in the room?

We had this a few years ago in a spare room. Turns out the radiator had a slow leak and as it soaked the old newspaper used as underlay, it "reactivated" the smell of cigarettes!

SwissMonsterRavingCheesyParty · 07/05/2010 10:49

Goodness, avent got central heating, can't smell anything now but will be getting an electrician out to be on the safe side,

Interesting allery link gtamom thanks, will look in to that

Are you getting a cold? I've been getting a waft every now and then since last night. Smoke free home, no windows open, end of cul-de-sac so no-one walks past.

It's annoying

CheekyRedWineGirl · 07/05/2010 11:44

hope you got it sorted swiss.

giveitago · 07/05/2010 12:00

Are your kids or their friends smoking?

Dollytwat · 07/05/2010 12:02

did you find out what it was?

last time that happened to me, I'd been burgled, that's how I knew someone had been in the house. They'd come in my back door which was unlocked.

SwansEatQuince · 07/05/2010 12:04

Are you pregnant? Not unknown for pregnant women's sense of smell becoming heightened or different.

SwissMonsterRavingCheesyParty · 07/05/2010 12:07

Nope, getting it checked later.

Kid are 11 and 8 giveitago, both have sn so don't go anywhere unsupervised. Have no access to cigs anyway, I don't really know any smokers, besides that they hate the smell more than me, its probably something and nothing and me being stupid. Better being on safe side tho imo.

cupcakesandbunting · 07/05/2010 13:10

My neighbour's cigarette smoke comes in through the ventilation in my kitchen. And he smokes a lot

foureleven · 07/05/2010 13:22

Why is this in AIBU?

foureleven · 07/05/2010 13:23

Sorry, I came over a bit 'AIBU Police then'!

alypaly · 07/05/2010 13:51

it might be a light switch. smell all your switches. They have a piece of brown bacolite stuff which is impregnated with a smelly fishy smokey stuff that is mant to draw your attention to it when the electrics get hot. Check your immersion heater switch...it happended to mine

southeastastra · 07/05/2010 14:00

i burnt out a socket on the wall and it smelt burney more than like cigarettes, have you checked all sockets though?
