AIBU?

to think I might be bleeding to death?

OK I probably am BU but man, I'm having the worst period ever. It came 3 days late and now on my second day I am changing my ST every 30-60 mins and am passing some serious clots. I've flooded 3 pairs of trousers today and I'm weirded out by it. I am usually fairly heavy but nothing like this.

Really sorry for the gory details but I am a bit . I don't know what the heck these clots are but they are freaking me out big time and I keep thinking "how can I be bleeding this much and NOT be in danger of dying?"

I don't actually feel ill; no pain only very mild periody cramps (compared to what I usually get, it feels like a cake walk), no temperature, no nausea. I feel fine, just a bit miffed with having to bolt to the loo every 5 minutes. I've been researching (I should not be allowed on the internets when something like this happens) and I'm hoping it might be this; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menorrhagia doesn't sound very serious, just a bit annoying. Annoying I can deal with...

my period was like this every time but only every 3 months beacause I had PCOS. Are you overweight? It can be a factor...

I found that staying below 14 1/2 stone made my periods normal.

I used to loose bloodclots about the size of a fist, so I understand your discomfort, I didn't want to leave the house and used to spend days just sat on a towel. It used to last for around 10 days - it was hellish.

Keep up your iron intake as you will no doubt suffer from anaemia if this continues. I would call for help if this is a new occurence as you say. I had to have an internal scan to have the diagnosis.

Good luck and take care.

I think if this were me I'd go to A&E. If this IS considerably more loss than you've experienced before then it needs checking out.

Practical help - I used to wear a pair of my hubby's stretchy boxer shorts - jersey ones, or a huge but tight pair of pants and just layer up and all round the back with the cheapest largest night time panty pads you can find. Thin ones with wings just don't cut it....

Sounds awful but it's almost like making yourself a nappy. At least with this and two towels on the bed I wouldn't wake up with something like that scene from the godfather

Also, I could not stop weeing for two days before AF showed up. I think this could be a symptom of fibroids?

Whatthe, that's what the doctor on the phone told me to do, make myself a nappy. I laughed at her I thought about fashioning some pants out of a plastic bag but the crinkling noise would keep me awake all night

Make a nappy?? Jesus! Doctors aren't always knowledgable about everything (DSs skin rash was 'dry skin' for example with my GP). I'd go to A & E - you may get checked over, sent home being told to go to GP but maybe not. Has it been like this for 2 days?

Haemorrhaging is two or more sanitary pads an hour. If you have that, please go to A&E.

Right. It is very heavy, but not a haemorrhage yet. I would go and see GP first thing in the morning if it doesn't ease up, though. And, obviously, if it gets worse during a night, you have to go to A&E. Frankly, if I were you, I would go now, as it's seems it's a very unusual amount of blood loss for you. It could be mc in which case you should go.

Don't make me conatnt MNHQ for your details... Get in the bloody car woman - or call an ambulance if you're not feeling well enough. But you need to go. Know its horrible and scary but you have to.

If this was the other way round you would be telling us to.

Thinking of you and hope you get sorted out. I know it's horrible to have people pulling you about etc but it's better than feeling dreadful and scared like you do now.
