AIBU?

to think I might be bleeding to death?

OK I probably am BU but man, I'm having the worst period ever. It came 3 days late and now on my second day I am changing my ST every 30-60 mins and am passing some serious clots. I've flooded 3 pairs of trousers today and I'm weirded out by it. I am usually fairly heavy but nothing like this.

Really sorry for the gory details but I am a bit . I don't know what the heck these clots are but they are freaking me out big time and I keep thinking "how can I be bleeding this much and NOT be in danger of dying?"

Oh glad your ok. I didn't want to mention last night(or scare you) I had same thing but bled like this for 5 days then 18 days later did the same again.I actually was on verge of going to gp when like you it just stopped it was like turning off a tap one minute pouring and the next nothing very wierd. Also became dangerously aneamic caused heart palps etc.
Therefore thought you should go!!

So glad ur ok I think it may be worth seeing GP for advice especially after reading spanky's thread.

Thankyou everyone

Spanky, it's comforting when you hear about others having the same problems. It's so scary seeing that much blood come out of your body but when you know it's fairly common it does ease your mind a bit. Glad you're sorted now.

My periods were like that every month. I had to take a change of clothes with me, sleep on a towel... Couldn't laugh or sneeze or stand up without flooding. I filled a extra large towel in 30 minutes. I was also aneamic. I went to the doctor who refered me to a gynecologist. I had treatment and now have the myrena coil, so now have periods that I only need a panty liner. I feel like I've got my life back. Hope you find this helpful and you get sorted out.

Glad it wasn't anything too serious and has eased x Spatone is excellent (no idea what they gave you - is it an iron tablet?) - you can buy it at the supermarket in a orange/blue cardboard box and put one a day (up to two) in some orange juice. It doesn't give you tummy ache/green poo like iron tablets. {{hugs}}

That's great. I'm sure it was a PITA to go but better safe than sorry and all that.
Enjoy day on your own!

Hello everyone, thankyou for thinking of me

I went to a+e and they tested my water/blood and said it was just a very heavy period and prescribed me some mefenemic acid. Definitely wasn't pregnant.

As sod's law would have it, the heavy bleeded virtually stopped as soon as I left the house to go to hospital

Thanks for your advice everyone. DH has taken the day off and taken DS out so at least I've got a day's p&q out of it!

Thinking of you and hope you get sorted out. I know it's horrible to have people pulling you about etc but it's better than feeling dreadful and scared like you do now.

Don't make me conatnt MNHQ for your details... Get in the bloody car woman - or call an ambulance if you're not feeling well enough. But you need to go. Know its horrible and scary but you have to.

If this was the other way round you would be telling us to.

Right. It is very heavy, but not a haemorrhage yet. I would go and see GP first thing in the morning if it doesn't ease up, though. And, obviously, if it gets worse during a night, you have to go to A&E. Frankly, if I were you, I would go now, as it's seems it's a very unusual amount of blood loss for you. It could be mc in which case you should go.
