Website here

"After the rain will be catering solely to children ages 7 to 17 one Wednesday afternoon per month, starting end of October. For this occasion, the spa is making available a menu of original treatments that will introduce children to the world of spa in a thoroughly delightful, fun way"

I almost fell over my own feet when I saw the advertising poster this afternoon at the soft play barn.

lol you're looking at it with mn eyes. sounds good to me

BAFE · 02/05/2010 21:17

Jesus that advert is horrible - reminds me of the Brook Shields picture.

MmeLindt · 02/05/2010 21:18

Possibly, SEA.

I did at the menu for the children. God, kids in Geneva are so spoilt.

The ad reminded me of American Beauty, I think that is why I got such a shock.

you think they're spoilt in geneva? you should see the ads for north london

thisisyesterday · 02/05/2010 21:21

i think it sounds lovely actually. i think that things like massage and yoga for children is really nice for them and very under-used.

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 02/05/2010 21:21

DS (13) has just come in, peered at the website and said "what is that? That is really wrong, mum"

I should open one here and call it "I Saw You Coming Spa for Weans" - would go down a storm

ChocolateFace · 02/05/2010 21:22

But isn't that a boy in the bath?

moondog · 02/05/2010 21:22

That is fucking grotesque.

I have just returned from a country where deformed/burnt/disabled/diseased children are dragging themselves across multi-lanne inner city roads, tapping on car windows, saying 'Rice, rice, hungry, hungry.'

I feel sick actually.

thisisyesterday · 02/05/2010 21:24

so boys can't go to spas now?

addictedisinthesecondtrimester · 02/05/2010 21:25

i would love to do something like that if i ever had a girly dd. but not with out me there to supervise

ChocolateFace · 02/05/2010 21:26

Boys can go to spas (if they want to) but I don't think it looks like Brook Shields. [tired and inarticulate emoticon]

MmeLindt · 02/05/2010 21:26

I think that the idea is sweet, but the advertising terrible.

And yes, kids in Geneva are incredibly spoilt. It is not unusual to see preteens with iPhones/Blackberries.

Moondog
That is awful.

The idea of massages and treatments for children is just totally ludicrous.

thisisyesterday · 02/05/2010 21:29

ohhh, sorry, see what you mean now

Bonsoir · 02/05/2010 21:31

It would make a lovely birthday party venue for girls...

Bonsoir · 02/05/2010 21:31

And, quite frankly, a bit of spa and massage and learning to take care of themselves is pretty harmless. Lots of children get up to a whole lot worse.

emkana · 02/05/2010 21:34

You can teach them to take care of themselves through exercise, healthy eating, personal hygiene. Spa and massages is just teaching them to take themselves way too seriously.

TiggyR · 02/05/2010 21:35

Taking care of themselves, Bonsoir? Have you checked the menu? Most of the treatments seem to involve sitting in a bath of chocolate whilst gorging on candy floss. and a snip at only 90 euros. Or how about a silk and pearl facial for your seven year old, at only 135 euros? Do me a favour.

thisisyesterday · 02/05/2010 21:36

children love massage though, it's a fabulous way of calming them down and teaching them to just relax and take time to chill out

lots of people do baby massage, but i bet very few continue to do it once their children are a bit older.

MmeLindt · 02/05/2010 21:39

The idea of massage for kids is great, imo. Not for the teaching them how to take care of themselves, but relaxation, stress relief, how to be comfortable with their own body.

Not sure a 13yo would appreciate it though, they tend to be rather self-concious at that age.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/05/2010 21:44

it would be swiss francs wouldnt it? still very pricey though.
proper massage is good, silly fancy things are just filling heads with nonsense

TiggyR · 02/05/2010 21:47

I've no objection to children being massaged, but this is not the way to do it! This is definitely for the 'I saw you coming' brigade, who send their children to birthday parties in stretch limos. YUK!

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 02/05/2010 21:48

And a snack of sliced bread and jam?

Teaching a 7 year old that they should be taking care of themselves by having their parents spend oodles of cash on a chocolate bath is nothing more than an advertisers dream. Get them outside running around in the fresh air, not caring what they look like - far healthier for the mind and the body.
