AIBU?

Share your dilemmas and get honest opinions from other Mumsnetters.

to assume that 99% of outlandish ops from a first time poster on Mumsnet are the work of trolls?

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/04/2010 21:36

I don't know, I must be getting very cynical in my old age.

But every time I read something that seems altogether outrageous, and guaranteed to generate a lot of reaction from Mumsnetters, the op has never posted on Mumsnet before.

Btw, I never say "I think you are a troll" because I understand this to be taboo on here.

I just leave the thread and sometimes come back to lurk.

But it seems people are often very quick to take the op at face value, and I am sorry they are being taken for a ride.

Ooh, by me, RubysReturn? Did I say something like "Let me extend you a warm welcome"?

scottishmummy · 27/04/2010 22:19

but sometimes a good cliché ridden yarn is compelling fun.and good laugh

i cant help myself from participating in the

working mums/nurseries neglect and damage children
why do some people bother having children if they dont want to stay at home knitting tampons and playing tambourine
ff causes bunions,hallitosis,neurosis

so troll or not i love it

makes me feel all warm to have me suspicions confirmed (well, ish)

...and I'll not have a word said about Extended. What a frightful old ham he is

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/04/2010 22:21

Oh I have served my time BoF. And learned.

2006 Me: Oh no how could people with no babies park in mother and baby spaces at the supermarket it is an outrage

2007 Me: They are a privilege not a right.

2008 Me: Who gives a fuck anyway?

2009 me: I park in them with my teenage daughter in my 2 seat sports car. Kiss my ass!

2010: Not going on a parking bay thread ever again.

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/04/2010 22:21

We are not talking about the "search the archives crap" - are we?

wukter · 27/04/2010 22:22

Not generally, but there are a couple at the moment that just don't sit right. I've not commented on them though.

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/04/2010 22:22

Oh yes I love the nursery kills babies 'precious moments' brigade WOHM V SAHM threads. They are always good for a row/laugh/scrap.

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/04/2010 22:31

Y'see, I'm sahm atm and my dh often works evenings so I have countless hours plenty of time to while away on here.

But for those of you at work all day, am amazed you don't resent wasting your Mumsnet moments on replying to utter fiction .

ach idle blethering with strangers is fun.beats cleaning the cludgie

chiccadee · 27/04/2010 22:34

Well, I've not been on MN long (it never occurred to me until DS came along) and I think GOML is right - I don't particularly want or have the time to search the archives or lurk before posting. If I've got a question, I'd rather post it and get some live responses. I figure that even if there are people on here who have seen it all before (been on here too long? ) there'll be plenty of new mums like me who also want to discuss issues for the first time.

And incidentally, as far as trolls go, I'd never even heard of them until I came on MN! I had to ask what one was. And it took me ages to work out what AIBU is - looking back, I could so easily have posted something 'controversial' here, genuinely wanting an answer, and been flamed.

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/04/2010 22:37

Ha jajas I just saw that.

They devoted more time to Netmums than us

bibbitybobbityhat · 27/04/2010 22:38

Was it about the Election per chance?

Of course, and about the importance of women's votes.

All for about 5 minutes.

It made me laugh when they said something like 'Mumsnet has had all the politicians on'. Then cut to netmums and said 'netmums ate just starting to learn about how politics applies to them'

Hurhur.

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/04/2010 22:41
