OP posts:
DeFluff · 22/04/2010 16:09

whats roffle??

Booboobedoo · 22/04/2010 16:09

The inappropriate condolence text did make me lol, though.

ILOTI

I'm Laughing On The Inside

Scrudd · 22/04/2010 16:13

I did tell him, madamdeath not to ridicule him in any way, you understand, but because I didn't want him making the same mistake again

I'm a bit of a loller, I have to admit. I think it's probably because I'm quite cynical and caustic, so I use it to make sure anyone reading knows that I'm joking

I think for 'lol' read 'smiling gently'
for 'pmsl' read 'actually emitted a small titter
for 'ROFL' read 'actually burst out laughing
and for anyone that actually says 'lol' read 'I am an arsehole'

FWIW, HTH.

thumbwitch · 22/04/2010 16:14

My dad uses it as lots of love as well. Must be an older male thing.

bronze · 22/04/2010 16:15

In the early days of such crap lol did used to means lots of love too

ShowOfHands · 22/04/2010 16:19

Oh I like roffle. To ROFL.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/04/2010 16:38

lol can mean either lots of love or laugh out loud

just as bf can be best friend or breast feeding or boyfriend

my bf bf was lol with her fil when bf lol - iykwim

SeaTrek · 22/04/2010 16:42

My SIL thinks it means 'Lots of love'.

chegirlWILLbeserene · 22/04/2010 17:20

I dont get the 'Loooool' thing. What does that mean? Laugh out out out out etc loud?

Its stupid innit.

I like Rolf. I think of it as the actual noise made rather than standing for anything.

pagwatch · 22/04/2010 17:22

chegirl
I always post rolf instead of rofl by mistake.. and now have an image of a laughing Rolf harris , which is really weird

notwavingjustironing · 22/04/2010 17:26

roffling somehow makes me think of someone sniggering to themself, whilst simultaneously wiping eyes and nose.

In other words, a bit messy.

chegirlWILLbeserene · 22/04/2010 17:32

Pag Looool and a rofling Rolf Harris

notwavingjustironing · 22/04/2010 17:33

Ooh yuk a Roffling Rolf. Double the mess.

BitOfFun · 22/04/2010 17:35

SIMA is genius- I shall use it forthwith. Perhaps also SAB? Smiling a bit?

SimonCowellIsSatan · 22/04/2010 17:56

I find myself using CAC alot at the moment.

CAC = Cleggs a c*nt.

pointydog · 22/04/2010 18:09

I don't mind lol. It's a little pretend dhuckle. Nothing wrong with that

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/04/2010 18:12

It does also mean lots of love. It should be fairly obvious from the context which meaning is intended.

What usage has been upsetting you beanlet.

And yes, YAprobablyBU btw.

pranma · 22/04/2010 18:46

I though it could mean either laugh out loud or lots of love

Dirtgirl · 22/04/2010 18:47

I like SIMA, might use it if feeling young and daring enough for text speak - even if it is Mumsnet text speak.

Dirtgirl · 22/04/2010 18:48

I tell you what though, text speak is fair enough, but trying to make head or tail of the TTC threads is a whole new ball game. Anyone else have that problem?

larks35 · 22/04/2010 18:50

what does lolol mean? I've seen it on a few posts and always wondered...
