to think that Ocado should offer me something different?

Just started using Ocado, after many good recommendations from MN! Love it so far, except one thing. After my first order they offered me a free bottle of wine with my next shop. We took the offer, even though we don't drink alcohol, with the intention of passing it on to a friend. They've done the same this time, a free bottle of wine. I've also noticed alot of the meal 'bundles' come with an alcoholic drink.

I feel like we're excluded from alot of the deals Ocado offer because we don't drink alcohol. I've spoken to their customer services who tell me that we "don't have to take them up on the offer" and that "there isn't a non-alcoholic substitution". AIBU to think this is a bit unfair, and perhaps even discriminatory? Expecially against people who's religion dictates that they shouldn't drink alcohol?

I will wait on tenterhooks for my first free bottle in April next year...

OcadoAnnie - can I put a request in for nice bottle of Chateau Lafite (any vintage )or similar for delivery in April 2011?

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 19/04/2010 18:31

They tend to send a bottle of something you ordered last. I was going to try a nice Dom Perignon and see what happens

mangoandlime - might have got the use by/ best before the wrong way round, but recommened to have been eaten by the 20th when recieved by 19th, so v vvv shortdated, otherwise I wouldn't have minded at all but it was a bit taking the p*. (def wasn't the example you gave me and keeps happening to me)

But Oneopod, not gong to the supermarket frankly is the best thing in the whole world (unless I have to go to replace the sodding bread!) Also if the eggs break on the way to your house you can generally get a refund which doesn't happen if you are stupid and put the case bottle of wine on top the egss.....

Apologies for the rubbish typing!

Can see why you're unhappy, but it's "just one of those things" I suppose.

One of my personal hates is the "two for one" discounts which may be difficult to use.

GrendelsMum · 19/04/2010 21:50

I was just about to weigh in with a moan that we hadn't had a free gift - and then it occurred to me that the person above is quite right, you don't normally expect a free bottle of wine just for going to the supermarket. I shall stop moaning on this one.

DrTrillianAstra · 19/04/2010 21:57

Wish I got free wine!

BattyKoda · 20/04/2010 09:39

See... if Ocado asked for our prefrences then these two bottles of wine may have been sent out to one of you, and I could've had some nice ham, then we'd all be happy

I know it shouldn't be expected GrendelsMum, but it feels a bit unfair to be excluded from promotional offers, especially if it is your religion that dictates and not just a lifestyle choice.
