to think that you shouldn't be able to get a thread deleted just because you don't like what people are saying?

I can perfectly well understand that you might need to ask for a thread to be deleted if you've given away too much personal information by mistake, or if it's descended into abuse, or something like that.

But the FIL loan-with-interest thread, while many posters were challenging the OP's take on the situation, was perfectly respectful IMO. People's perfectly legitimate opinions, and a lot of very helpful advice which must have taken a long time for them to put together, have been deleted; is this simply because izziebear was finding it a bit uncomfortable, or is there some procedure for deciding which threads should be removed that isn't clear from the site guidelines?

LeQueen you write so eloquently and even if you did have a "crappy" life, I love the way everything sounds so perfect and I can almost feel the "soft focus", or, life is so passionate and fiery. Nothing is ever bland because your forte is crafting replies geared to your audience. I also know you from said forum and do not understand for one minute how the queen of the pithy put down who really doesn't give a s**t about an anonymous internet forum who can paint such a picture (sometimes admittedly manufactured) would be so bothered about Sassy's comments. She obviously has something many others do not. You have held your own against many others and refused to engage with others off the other forum by email preferring to use your excellent "pithy put down" technique. I just don't get it
