DH has sent one fairly important (female) customer an Easter gift.

this

I think it sends out the wrong message but DH thinks IABU.

Am I?

YANBU - why did he say he sent it?

cece · 08/04/2010 08:13

Bit odd imo for a business type gift.

Numberfour · 08/04/2010 08:13

inappropriate
YANBU

Callisto · 08/04/2010 08:15

I'd hate to get this from a business contact - it is so patronising and sexist somehow. Think your DH is very strange to think this is appropriate for anyone over the age of 10.

susssiq · 08/04/2010 08:16

an easter bunny at easter hmm yabu imo.

MrsWobbleTheWaitress · 08/04/2010 08:16

That is vile!

Intergalactic · 08/04/2010 08:17

Depends on the nature of his business and on the client I suppose but I don't like it and would be a bit baffled to receive it. Some quality chocolates would surely have been a safer bet?

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 08/04/2010 08:17

Did he send any of his other clients Easter gifts? Or just this woman?

I wouldn't be comfortable with it. I agree, bit sexist and patronising, or he's flirting with her. Either way it's not good.

gingernutlover · 08/04/2010 08:18

unless the customer is a 5 year old girl then it's a bit of an odd present (would he have sent it to a male customer?) I would much rather have been sent flowers or a lot of chocolate

when you say it sends out the wrong message what do you mean?

Seriously?!

Your DH sent a client (presumably a grown woman) a soft toy?

Has he no sense? Or is she one of these women with soft toys in her car?

YANBU

GoldenSnitch · 08/04/2010 08:29

My 3 month old daughter got that exact same bunny for Easter from her Auntie because she's too little for chocolate.

I think that says it all really.

ifancyashandy · 08/04/2010 08:43

It's just odd. I would be baffled if I'd received it. WOuldn't think there were any lurve overtones though. Just that he was a bit odd. (sorry).

bremusa · 08/04/2010 08:45

YANBU, some men are complete arses when it comes to buying the right gift.

As an aside, for a brief nano second before clicking on the link I thought the 'inappropriate gift' was something like a vibrator or crotchless knickers . Dunno what thinking that says about me though

GibbonInARibbon · 08/04/2010 08:46

If I got this I would feel and think how odd. I don't think there are any 'I'd rather be sending you a different kinda baby rabbit' vibes about it though.

mangoandlime · 08/04/2010 09:07

Is she three?

ditavionteased · 08/04/2010 09:10

does she have a child, could he have thought she could give it to child, otherwise freaky, does he send you a great big padded card for valentines?

DramaInPyjamas · 08/04/2010 09:13

Maybe she collects rabbits/bunnies?

BuzzingNoise · 08/04/2010 09:13

I think it's cute and I'd like it so YABU.

MrsBadger · 08/04/2010 09:18

crashingly unprofessional imo
would he have sent a man the same thing?

next year I recommend Hotel Chocolat

(NB there is a place for soft toys in the workplace but it's as comedy freebies with stationary orders, bears in company logo tshirts etc)

Ingles2 · 08/04/2010 09:20

Yuk! Creepy gift for an female client.
Hope she remains his client.

rockinhippy · 08/04/2010 09:22

Oh dear, does DH want to keep his client or trying to Scare her off...lol

YABU to worry about this as a threat to your relationship.........its so naff & patronising, even if that was his intention, he will of shot himself right in the foot...any woman with enough balls to be high enough up the corporate ladder to "be an important business client" will NOT appreciate this sort of cutesy girly thing.

YANBU to think its inappropriate.......but purely because its naff & patronising....had any supplier given me that back in my business days...I would of taken my business elsewhere, purely because it makes him look like a sexist tw@t

LEMneedsmnadvice · 08/04/2010 09:42

its very cute, i like it - i would be thrilled if my DP got me this, that is my DP if a business contact sent it to me, male or female i would question their sanity - or just assume he had a job lot a la del boy and rodney. Either way i'd not take him seriously again.

Of course, it all depends, what sort of buisness is it?

StealthPolarBear · 08/04/2010 09:45

my first thought was also does she have a child?

LynetteScavo · 08/04/2010 09:49

I would be quite chuffed to receive that from someone I do buisness with, nad no I don't have soft toys on my bed or in my car.

Looks like I might be a bit odd, though.
