DH has sent one fairly important (female) customer an Easter gift.

this

I think it sends out the wrong message but DH thinks IABU.

Am I?

If the customer has children or keeps rabbits as pets or the business is, say, supplying rabbit products then OK but otherwise not the best choice.

If he wants to send bunnies at Easter best to send a chocolate one.

LynetteScavo · 08/04/2010 10:01

How was it wrapped?

At least it wasn't bunny knickers,or soemthing.

notso · 08/04/2010 10:23

bremusa I thought exactly the same as you

OP perhaps she is the kind of freakwoman who talks in a baby voice and "wud wuv a cute wickle wabbit"

BlunderBust · 08/04/2010 12:37

Notso - she does talk Just like that!!!!

Ta for letting me see I'm not being completely unreasonable, but maybe a bit!

I imagine she'd have loved it which is perhaps why I worry about the 'message' being wrong. Also, whilst I am fairly sure my H doesn't lust after her, I suspect she may lust after him and a fluffy bunny stokes the fire a bit, IMO.

yanbu , if she fancies him, she may see it as him not making a move because he's a bashful bunny...

redredruby · 08/04/2010 12:56

Urgh - I would be if I received this from a business associate. It implies a failure to take me seriously as a professional.

As an aside I also hate it when women are refered to as 'girls' - it is all part of the infantilisation of women within society which I strongly object to!

clams · 08/04/2010 14:36

YANBU. He has embarrassed himself professionally and no sane woman over the age of 14 would want a cheap-looking stuffed toy from anyone, let alone a business colleague.

If you think she isn't sane and is a bit babyish/perving on your DH then this takes it out of 'crap gift-buying from a male' territory into something far more annoying, however well-intentioned your DH.

LaurieFairyCake · 08/04/2010 14:39

If a fluffy bunny "stokes her fire" you presumably have nothing to worry about

thedollshouse · 08/04/2010 14:42

I would be a bit miffed if I received that, because it so completely pointless. You can get a really nice bottle of wine for £10.

JustMyTwoPenceWorth · 08/04/2010 14:43

He sent her a bunny? It's not really very professional, is it?

junglist1 · 08/04/2010 14:44

Bit weird unless he collects rabbit merchandise. My friend was obsessed with ornamental horses (clutches at straws)

GetOrfMoiLand · 08/04/2010 14:49

Oh god no.

I was at my DP for buying me a cuddly toy a while back.

God knows what I would think if a business contact had sent me this.

Iwould probably put a noose around its neck, stick a sign on its belly saying 'Kill Me Now' and sent it back to him.

That'll learn 'im.

WhoIsAsking · 08/04/2010 14:57

Jesus I had a real panic when I clicked that link, the first thing I thought when I saw "Bunny" in the link was that your DH had bought his client a....adult rabbit.

Still, I think I'd rather he's sent that than the cuddly toy to be honest.

Pikelit · 08/04/2010 15:33

Ewwwwww! I destest the soft toy addiction that some grown women have anyway but think this is a hugely unprofessional present to send to anyone. Other than a rabbit farmer, perhaps.

chaostrulyreigns · 08/04/2010 22:48

I'm really interested as to what line of work you and your DH are in.

pollywollydoodle · 09/04/2010 10:44

please tell me that you grow carrots or lettuces!

displayuntilbestbefore · 09/04/2010 10:49

Is the customer Glenn Close?

nighbynight · 09/04/2010 11:16

I am a software contractor, and one year, the agency for which I was working gave everyone stuffed mouse toys as a present. They gave me 2, because they knew that I had children!
I gave 1 to our au pair at that time, and she was delighted, because most of her extensive collection of stuffed animals was from China, and this was a genuine Made in Germany one.

So, no, I dont think it is terribly out of the way as a business present.

MrsBadger · 09/04/2010 12:34

ah if every client/customer gets one that is different

going out to buy a cuddly toy specifically for one customer is weird

foureleven · 09/04/2010 12:54

No HE is being unreasonable for sending a grown women a cuddly toy.

Did he only get one for her though?

I used to work for a High Street Recruitment agency that had some HIDEOUS ideas about client gifts. We were all forced to send our clients some really random items and I was often thoroughly embarrased.

My ex partner had a row with me once when Id had to send a male client a rose on valentines day... cringe.
