We ordered a shed from argos, was supposed to be here between 7-9am, still no delivery.

We have theatre tickets at 12 o'clock and Ive been told by frig gin numb nuts Argos that our delivery wont be here until after 1!

So £48 went down the drain, and a very unhappy little boy!

No one to wait in also, and shed needs delivering today and garden being landscaped tomorrow! Im Ggggggrrrrrr

and Argos, saying its not their problem and that delivery is only a estimate, and that any extra activities within their day time slot is not their problem!

WANKERS!

Go to the theatre and worry about the shed later. Deliveries are a PITA.

strawberrykate · 07/04/2010 10:03

I'd make them rearrange by not being in.

brook1 · 07/04/2010 10:03

Its not good service and I would definitely complain to customer services at head office. But, you are BU using language like that. God help the delivery people when they arrive.

NoahAndTheWhale · 07/04/2010 10:05

I would go to the theatre.

Shed can be rearranged. Yes, you are having the garden landscaped tomorrow but the shed might even get delivered today after you have come back from the theatre, or it may come tomorrow morning early.

LittleMrsHappy · 07/04/2010 10:06

we cant, we need the shed for tomorrow for the landscape of the garden, as we are knocking into both neighbours garden to get the patio and slabbing done.

Both neighbours have children who use the gardens, and we need to make sure everything is secure and locked away from little fingers.

LIZS · 07/04/2010 10:06

Tell them you have to go out and will be in after , say 4 or first thing tomorrow.

mustrunmore · 07/04/2010 10:07

This wont help, but I hate Argos deliveries too. More pain than they're worth. Closely followed by Tescos direct. Argh.

ElleBing · 07/04/2010 10:07

Take your DC to the theatre.

I would say that this is what you get for dealing with buffoons like Argos but I won't.

brook1 · 07/04/2010 10:08

Well it sounds like you have no alternative really but to stay in and wait. But I still think that you may have a chance of getting the price of your tickets refunded from Argos if you complain to head office. If you just spoke to the people who deal with deliveries they probably have no power to do this. Go higher.

LittleMrsHappy · 07/04/2010 10:08

shed wont be delivered until next Wednesday if I delay also (have asked) and that's no good.

Benn on the phone to HO, and apparently I need to go direct to Argos direct, as they dont deal with Argos direct deliveries

LadyBiscuit · 07/04/2010 10:09

I would be swearing too but would be nice as pie to the delivery people - it's probably not their fault

I'd also go to the theatre. Can't they leave the shed at the side of the house? It's not easy to nick

Argos HO said that the delivery time slots are a estimate and that if I have arranged "extra activities" in that day then it not their problem.

Lovely bunch of staff they have

LittleMrsHappy · 07/04/2010 10:16

No side entrance to the house and we need to sign for it, (but for £500 I want to sign for it also) we live in terraced house (well 3 houses, and were in the middle) the only access to all the houses is via the houses, as we are located in the middle of forestry.

I dont think the delivery people will want to go through trees and wotnot to delivery the shed tbh.

OP posts:
screamingskull · 07/04/2010 10:17

Sorry I think YABU as it is only an estimated time of delivery and not an actual delivery time.

Who knows what traffic / accidents may occur when the delivery guys set off first thing in the morning.

Can you not just ask a neighbour to sign that way everyone happy.

flootshoot · 07/04/2010 10:20

Why give you a slot at all then if they say you can't arrange 'extra activities' on the same day. I would stay in and make a HUGE fuss later on. Make sure you get your delivery charge refunded as well as your tickets - the shite attitude of their customer service is enough to warrant that IMO.

But then I am a bit of a dab hand at complaint letters.....

LadyBiscuit · 07/04/2010 10:22

If it's not going to be there until after 1pm, there is no bloody way it was ever going to be there 7-9am. What's the point of giving an estimated delivery time if there is no intention of getting there anywhere near that time?

Some people would have to lose a day's pay if they had to stay home all day for a delivery so absolutely I think it's fine to be very pissed off

LittleMrsHappy · 07/04/2010 10:23

I furious at argos as they knew 2 weeks beforehand about the shed and delivery.

The reason they are late is because the shed did not fit on the 1st or the second van as it is too big for it!

They have had bleating over a week to sort this out, the shed has been sitting in the store room for over a a week, but only today, the day of delivery that they have decided to see if it fits in the van!

Its a joke!

OP posts:
flootshoot · 07/04/2010 10:24

Did they call you when the delivery didn't arrive? You would have thought if it was going to be over 4 hours late a courtesy call would have been in order. If you had to call them, well that's just fuel for the complaint letter.........

mustrunmore · 07/04/2010 10:27

I agree with the posters that are saying if its an estimated time then you havent really got grounds to complain. But omg, of course they should have realised it wouldnt fit on the van! I'm guessing that most delivery routes would be worked out a week in advance? Then last minute orders either have to wait, or get slotted in where there is space.
I'd cancel it and buy from elsewhere, if it wasnt the urgency issue!

ifancyashandy · 07/04/2010 10:28

What flootshoot said but put an 'expected response time' on any letters. Write the same letter to Customer Services, the Chief Exec (Terry Duddy - googled him) and their head of PR. Might seem like a lot but it should get a response. I've taken on companies like this and won - power to the people and all that!

I would also threaten media connections if they don't play ball.

LittleMrsHappy · 07/04/2010 10:36

no, no phone call.

We had to phone the manufacturer to get height and width of the boxes to make sure they would fit through the front door and also french doors at the back of the house, and when we did this they told us it would be shipped in on the 27th of march and we got a email off them saying it was in the store room awaiting for dispatching details, as we thought we needed a hoist to get it over our roof and then into the back garden.

I would love to cancel, but it means going through all the rigmarole again.

Im just so disappointed, as I dont have another day off work until next week, and ds1 was looking forward to it, and is now sat in the sofa in a tantrum.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 07/04/2010 10:48

Is there a neighbour that can sign for you and get the drivers to deliver it into your garden?

LittleMrsHappy · 07/04/2010 10:53

Yes our neighbour is in, Im just not comfortable doing so . As Ive already asked alot from them to dig into their garden (well technically it is ours but their fences takes 20ft of our land, and we have promised to give them new fences) just to be nice.

OP posts:
BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 07/04/2010 10:54

Just ask them and take a bottle of wine round for the inconvenience. I do things like this for my neighbours all the time, they probably won't mind.
