To wish the BBC would stop harping on about Doctor Bloody Who?

Grrr! Was bad enough with the demise of "mad eyebrow" doctor who and now putting up with the advert for "no eyebrow" doctor who, I wish there was a "hide" button ..

Last christmas Doctor Bloody Who and David Bloody Tennant got close to doing my head in. In the two weeks over christmas they repeated Doctor who countless times, and not to mention David Tennant making SEVENTY FIVE appearances on TV in that period.

Utterly, utterly sick to death of DH and DT, still.

Dying to see new interior of the Tardis. Its like Extraterrestrial Changing Rooms.

It all depends how you look at it. For years it seemed to me that the BBC was EastEnders obsessed - trailers, Radio Times covers, articles in the tabloids, everything.

And all the while they were letting Doctor Who, one of their most prized possessions, wither on the vine. It was so frustrating.

So now, I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

And you can't convince me that soaps have "realistic" storylines! When you actually examine the ways that the characters behave, they are all about characters acting in most unrealistic, unconvincing ways - characterisation is subservient to sensationalist plot.

Once you get beyond the fact that Doctor Who features stories about extra-terrestrial life, it is at its heart a programme not about "aliens" and "spaceships" but about humanity. It has always been about the questing nature of the human spirit and the human instinct to survive. Yes, even the episodes featuring a giant prawn on a space-station.

Love Dr Who! Can't wait for new series. It's the writing that really matters.

Bigmouthstrikesagain · 02/04/2010 23:38

I agree that the 'reality' in a story comes not from the situation the characters are placed in but the way they react to and deal with the situation - and the characterisation has been excellent in DW.

I am quite glad to see the back of David Tennant to be completely honest - by the end of the last episode I was quite frustrated by his drawn out regen and just wanted him to bloody get on with it and stop whining... I know he is a housewives fav and everything - but I am hoping the new doc and the writing team will get on with some exciting storylines and inject a bit of much needed new blood!

What do you mean about DR Who 'storylines'? I've always thought it was a fly on the wall documentary series about a time travelling alien who is the saviour of the earth?
Are you saying I've got it wrong?

You are going to tell me there's no such thing as Santa and The Easter Bunny next!
