Grrr! Was bad enough with the demise of "mad eyebrow" doctor who and now putting up with the advert for "no eyebrow" doctor who, I wish there was a "hide" button ..

Ah yes The Bill

realism at it's finest
actually I don't know anyone who watches it save for a few, erm, elderly ladies

oh and the Chawners on Lorraine Kelly's Big Fat Challenge

diydemon · 01/04/2010 22:41

Wasn't The Bill on ITV? And Doctor Who BBC? So not the same company who axed TB and producing DW?

A.pedant

And OP YABVU. I remember hiding behind the sofa from Daleks as a child and am delighted it's back. And Torchwood is brilliant, can't wait for John Barrowman to appear on Desperate Housewives.

TheLadyEvenstar · 01/04/2010 23:55

OMG YABVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVU!!!!!

Dr Who is my all time favourite tv time! its the one time DS1 and I actually come together!

I Cried my eyes out at the Christmas one even thinking about it makes me well up! Can't wait to see Matt Smith on the screen! My brother has seen a few of the episodes already (he gets to preview them lucky bugger) and says he is excellent - I trust his judgement as he is friends with the writer.

gaelicsheep · 01/04/2010 23:57

Surely they have to really plug it now because Matt Smith is going to be so abso-blardy-lutely dreadful. I have no intention of watching this series.

TheLadyEvenstar · 01/04/2010 23:58

Gaelic you gotta give him a chance!!!

gaelicsheep · 02/04/2010 00:00

But he looks so weird! David Tennant was my favourite doctor - never liked Christopher Eccleston much. Matt Smith is like going back to someone like Sylvester McCoy. Oh I'll probably watch the first one, but I'm not an uberfan so he'll have to grab me pretty early on.

TheLadyEvenstar · 02/04/2010 00:07

gaelic DT could grab me any day!!!

I met him on DS1's 7th birthday they were filming the xmas special local to me. DS1 had the cast sing him happy birthday and present him with a birthday cake...he loved it until his girlfriend idol Billie Piper went to kiss him lol

LittlePushka · 02/04/2010 00:09

Am I alone in thinking the new chap is,...well..a bit affected, somehow?

Affected not infected!

gaelicsheep · 02/04/2010 00:09

Ditto TLE! You met him?! You lucky things the pair of you.

TheLadyEvenstar · 02/04/2010 00:13

Gaelic yes 4 yrs ago!! almost 5yrs. was a brilliant day and i did have some brilliant photos of the day but when i split with ex-h he ripped them all up wanking bastard
so i lost them all.

TheLadyEvenstar · 02/04/2010 00:15

DS1 and Peter Davison on DS1's 7th b'day. the graffiti on the wall behind was part of the set and the 2 little boys are his sons.

GothAnneGeddes · 02/04/2010 01:34

YANBU!

It's just another load of toss that my Mum tells me I should watch.

drwhofan · 02/04/2010 09:08

YABVVVVU!!!! Gonna miss david tennant though...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/04/2010 09:17

YABSoSoU

but I really hope Matt smith outdoes my expectations.

Can you imagine being him? So much to live up to. All this PRESSURE. I'd go pop if I were him.

HinnyPet · 02/04/2010 11:32

I think we can safely say that MNers either love it or hate it, no middle ground!!

TrillianAstra · 02/04/2010 11:36

You don't know if the new bloke is affected or no personality because it doesn't matter what Matt Smith is like when he is Matt Smith, it matters what he is like when he is The Doctor.

Agree that the "they" who axed The Bill is a completely different set of people to the "they" who are in charge of Dr Who - and the IMO if there was a choice between the two of them this is the correct choice.

ShadeofViolet · 02/04/2010 11:39

Yabvvvvvu!

I have been counting down the days, im so excited

SpicedGerkin · 02/04/2010 11:41

YABveryveryU!

SpicedGerkin · 02/04/2010 11:43

'I fucking hate dr fucking who. They can axe the bill but keep a bloke with a phone box grrrrr'

PMSL Do you believe that the little people on the screen live inside the box too?

TrillianAstra · 02/04/2010 12:52

It's a police box, not a phone box. And it's secretly a spaceship/time machine.

UnquietDad · 02/04/2010 13:03

hinny, tiredmum, et al. If you don't like it, don't watch.

I expect literally hundreds of people agree with you.

Thankfully, many millions do not.

I, for one, hope that the BBC continues to harp on about Doctor Bloody Who ad bloody infinitum. Because I can remember 1989-1996 and 1997-2003, when the BBC tried to pretend Doctor Who didn't exist. And I know which situation I prefer!

(LOL at "unrealistic". Unlike all those really down-to-earth and realistic soaps, where everyone goes to the launderette and pub all the time, and shags their neighbour and has jobs within a hundred yards of their front door.)

HinnyPet · 02/04/2010 19:21

UQD.....Unrealistic as there are no bloody aliens trying to abduct my local gp.
Nor are there upside down bins shouting exterminate outside my back door.

At least EE etc etc has a realistic storyline. More likely to happen than a plastic monster shouting "raaahh"

My point was that I am not going to watch it, I have no interest in it, no intention of ever watching it and I am sick of the trailers, and I wish there was a "hide" button for all things DW and sci-fi related!

Can't wait.

NanBullen · 02/04/2010 19:42

PiratePrincess · 02/04/2010 19:54

YABVU - brilliant telly!
