To hope Moben kitchens go bankrupt?

Obviously only after they have sorted out all the atrocious kitchens they have fitted thus far. If you are considering using them then for the love of God....DON'T. Just Google Moben and see details of the trail of misery they have caused. SPREAD THE WORD

We've unfortunately been given the old telephone number of the moben showroom in our town. They have not been there for six years, have not had the number in all that time, yet every time a sale brochure comes out we get loads of calls for them.

I've lost count of how many times I've called head office to tell them to take our number off the literature but it's still happening with irritating regularity.

I'd change our number if all the kids' consultants etc didn't have it. Changing now would be a nightmare.

Do you think head office give a shit?

Doublebuggy · 28/03/2010 19:13

I am always cynical of companies that regularly have 50% of sales with big advertising campaigns.

Just give a decent realistic price first time round.

BouncingTurtle · 28/03/2010 19:29

Moben + Dolphin.

I've heard so much bad press about them, I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole!

smackapacka · 28/03/2010 19:43

Fanjolina - If not the MD of Moben sticking up for them then who is it? Who is this kind mumsnetter redressing the balance? Who BTW is the ONLY person sticking up for Moben. Very bad press indeed that on the whole thread not one person has a good tale to tell. How are they even still in business? Especially with access to the internet everyone can read what shysters they are. Not like in years gone by when only watchdog would expose these companies.

fanjolina · 28/03/2010 19:55

no idea who it is. and whether it is the MD or not. Just think it is odd that there are two different usernames masquerading as the same person.

smackapacka · 28/03/2010 19:56

A troll sticking up for Moben - only on mn!

ImSoNotTelling · 28/03/2010 19:56

I had an organisation contact me when i was naming them on a thread, saying I was very unhappy with them.

It does happen.

smackapacka · 28/03/2010 19:59

Did it get resolved? It wasn't British Gas was it?

fanjolina · 28/03/2010 20:04

ISNT - I expect any decent company that needs to maintain customer relations runs webalert programs to pick up whenever they are mentioned online. It is very easy to do.

wannaBe · 28/03/2010 20:12

don't contact her.

Think about it. You slag off a company, wishing them bankrupcy in fact under an assumed name on a website. Someone from the company comes on and says "Oh we would so love to resolve your issue, please email us your details," and bingo, they have the name and address of the individual who's slagging them off so they can potentially sue you for lible or defamation.

don't do it

101damnations · 28/03/2010 20:21

I think the kitchen and bathroom industries attract shysters. While I was researching companies via the Screwfix trade talk website,it seems that a lot of these companies are linked and are prosecuted/go bust, then set up again under a slightly different name.

We've just had a Wickes kitchen fitted, and they have been fab.We used our own fitter and the Wickes salesman even came out on site to pick up a panel we didn't need and see if we were happy with everything. Our fitter was very impressed with the quality [he normally fits for Magnet, who he also rates],and everyone who has seen it has said how much they love it.

Lovecat · 28/03/2010 20:23

In the interests of balance, my MIL had a Moben kitchen fitted and it's lovely and she had no complaints.

However... that was 20 years ago... (kitchen still going strong, nonetheless!)

CaveMum · 28/03/2010 20:54

We had a quote from Dolphin for our bathroom - 16k!!!! Honest to god I nearly fainted when he told us the quote.

In the end a local builder fitted our new bathroom with a combination of items from his suppliers and things we bought in the BathStore sale.

He also fitted a kitchen for us from Howden's and I have to say they, and their sales lady, were fab.

1Littleboy1Bigboy · 28/03/2010 21:08

gorgeousgirl - i would NEVER use B&Q again. It took them 2 years (YES TWO YEARS!!!) to finish our kitchen!

PorphyrophillicPixie · 28/03/2010 22:13

mobenkitchen, care to explain this site here:
moben-kitchens.com/
or maybe even this?:
moben-kitchens.110mb.com/

I love googling

Oh yes - my parents had John Lewis do their kitchen. They love it! It's such good quality.

sheas · 29/03/2010 11:20

Just a quick update, Moben have promised us a telephone call from MD today so I'll let you all know how that goes....Thanks for all the posts BTW, much appreciated.

ImSoNotTelling · 29/03/2010 11:56

Yes keep us informed.

Especically if wannabe's prediction turns out to be true and they come round and kneecap you.

(I'm sure they won't)

twittertotter · 29/03/2010 12:02

MOBEN are a nightmare - liars, inept and they don't give a fuck about their customers!!

shower of Twat faced mother fucking CxxTs IMHO.

domesticslattern · 29/03/2010 12:22

Another vote for John Lewis here. Although it was like a reverse Moben- crap sales (never returning calls, even though we wanted to give them £) and good service!

I have to say though that Moben did come round and give us a quote too, and I found that the sales guy v. nice and all of the staff we dealt with were lovely. Including the ones I dealt with while trying to cancel the contract , which they did very politely and refunded the deposit directly. The Moben kitchen was going to be cheaper than the JL one, but not as nice to be honest. I am glad we avoided them.

Pheebe · 29/03/2010 12:23

My sister used to work for them. She doesn't anymore and is ashamed to admit her association. Nuff said.

domesticslattern · 29/03/2010 12:35

Moben told us that they thought a lot of the bad mouthing on the internet came from smaller competing kitchen fitters.

I still don't know if I believe that or not.
