Child was around 10-12yrs i would say. Wearing this t-shirt]]. I really thought i had read it wrong so googled it and lots came up!

I clicked on that link all ready to tell the OP to get over herself, expecting to see something which didn't conform to middle-class, pfb/panytimeborn expectations and to wonder why the OP was making a fuss.

Well, I was wrong, wasn't I? Sorry Tortoise!

As ready as I may be to tell people to get a grip and that little Tarquin doesn't need permanently protecting from life, I admit to sitting here with an open mouth, repeating, "Noooooooo!".

What's with parents who think this acceptable? My own DDs are teenagers and they know that in this house such a t-shirt would be shoved into the bin as quickly it got pulled out of the bag.

mamas12 · 21/03/2010 21:26

britfish
Even if it was a 15 yr old teen it is still offensive and I think I would have to say something.
Isn't there anyone out there who could tell us if we could call the police and have them cautioned (the parents too) about offensive material on public display or something.

I know I know extreme but wtf kind of reaction are they hoping for except all kinds of 'abuse'

MangoTango · 21/03/2010 21:30

What does "I ripped Momma a new one" mean?

Thediaryofanobody · 21/03/2010 21:39

Mango basically the baby ripped her a new arsehole during birth.

Tortoise · 21/03/2010 21:44

Those ones for babies are awful too. My DS is nearly 13 and would not be allowed to wear anything like this.

I once saw a maybe 6/7yr old with a t-shirt saying "Your mother loves you, Everyone else thinks you're a C**t"

I had to look twice at that one.

Disgusting.

tether now now stop giggling or you will start me off.

petisa · 21/03/2010 23:02

you've got to be really classy to buy a t-shirt with slogans like that, haven't you. Vile, vile, vile.

Niadra · 21/03/2010 23:10

Rather inappropriate for any person, let alone a child under the age of consent.

Sazisi · 21/03/2010 23:16

Yuck, vomitous.

I bought some lighters on the way to the airport in Cypress to use up left over currency.. anyway, I was in a bit of a rush and didn't look too closely at what I was buying. One of them had 'have fun in Cypress' and a picture of a rat fucking well raping another rat which was caught in a trap

Cant believe some people would actually buy this stuff.

On holiday last year we saw a young girl out with her parents wearing a t-shirt that said something along the lines of "this is my shagging t-shirt" - she was about 12 - WTF!

jennyslinger · 22/03/2010 00:24

i'm perplexed how easily people on mumsnet get shocked and shake with anger.

a very easily offended bunch, me thinks

pigletmania · 22/03/2010 00:28

pigletmania · 22/03/2010 00:32

No Jenny its horrid to see a little baby/child whith awful logoed t shirts that are really in bad taste. Would you let your dcs ware such crap

kreecherlivesupstairs · 22/03/2010 07:47

I must confess to being a bit bored by some of those t.shirts. No, some aren't nice but they aren't as bad as some we saw while we lived in Thailand. The tragedy was the people wearing them didn't understand the message so were oblivious to the giggling of tourists. I imagine the 10 ish year old girl with fuck me up the arse on her top didn't realise what it said.
DD yearned for a t.shirt in our local market with sparkly stuff on that said future porn queen . Luckily she was too young to read what it said. Unluckily when she was taken to the market by our home help and home help purchased the t.shirt for her, it went straight into the bin.

brightspark2 · 22/03/2010 08:10

I have a netsweeper filter to block my son's access to inappropriate sites. JollyPirate I couldn't view that baby's T-shirt - it was classified as Pornography and blocked. Nuff said.

brightspark2 · 22/03/2010 08:16

I remember when I was about 8 (1972) having a T shirt with a cartoon of a blissful cat in front or an electric fire saying "Happiness is a warm pussy" - this stuff isn't new, it's just got worse. Will have to have a word with my increasingly judgmental mum about that one!

mamas12 · 22/03/2010 08:17

It should be one the sexualisation of children thread shouldn't it.

LaurieFairyCake · 22/03/2010 08:20

I make a distinction when it causes harm though. The baby one causes no harm (it's just tacky).

The ones on teenage and tweenage girls are harmful and grotesque in my opinion. Particularly a t-shirt saying "pop my cherry" on an eleven year old (similar to that posted above)

GibbonInARibbon · 22/03/2010 08:29

I was tutting at some links, deeply disturbed by the cherry one but I did lol in real life @ "Your mother loves you, Everyone else thinks you're a C**t"

Not that I would put it on my child but I would be lying if I were to say it didn't make me chuckle.

MathsMadMummy · 22/03/2010 08:42

ugggh they're all horrible.

and I'm really not a total prude - laughed loads at my mate's tee which said "if you don't believe in oral sex, keep your mouth shut" LOL but he was 18!

so, is it entirely the parents for making/allowing the kids to wear this stuff? surely some of the blame should go to the manufacturers? or the govt because there is nothing to prevent it?

or would that be unfair to the adults who want to wear them?

actually not sure where I stand on that. anyone?

WitchyWooWoo · 22/03/2010 08:45

on a whim and hormones i once bought DS a tshirt saying All Mummy Wanted Was A Backrub. He never wore it lol!

Wehn i was about 12 i was "madly in love" with this guy, i wanted a new top as he was coming to the cinema with me and a couple of friends... i shamefully bought a tshirt with a pear on it that said, nice pear... i thought it was cute.. didn't realise what it really meant until i walked into my parents workplace lol.
