The Irish woman has just put her babies to bed

I hate that bit.

That bit always gets to me.

Guadalupe · 20/03/2010 21:46

I thought leonardo was the worst thing in that film, so cringey

Guadalupe · 20/03/2010 21:47

that was the saddest bit

Don't, I am sat here sobbing. That will keep me awake tonight

MiladyDeWinter · 20/03/2010 21:47

Not just me then. It's so typical of a powerless woman doing all she can for her beloved children

YourCallIsImportant · 20/03/2010 21:52

I endured it at the cinema - willing the damn thing to sink so I could get home.

The whole thing makes me cringe, I can't watch it. I actually encouraged DH to watch a re-run of Top Gear tonight so we could avoid it.

TheCatAteMyGymsuit · 20/03/2010 21:59

She's v good in Heavenly Creatures though (our Kate).
I wanted to hate Titanic, I really did, but quite enjoyed it, well, a tiny bit. (Leo di Caprio helped).

noddyholder · 20/03/2010 22:05

She is defintiely better looking now

MiladyDeWinter · 20/03/2010 22:13

I honestly don't know why she wouldn't give him a little turn on the door. She is a woman after all with a bit more fat and endurance.

Poor Leo was submerged in the icy water from the neck down the whole time they were concious. It just seems a bit selfish...

MiladyDeWinter · 20/03/2010 22:16

Oh and now she is surprised that he isn't responding. That would be because he is quite a bit colder and wetter and more frozen than you.

Wineonafridaynight · 20/03/2010 22:17

The whole film is poor! I didn't realise until now. I was 13 when it came out and thought it was amazing! I saw it twice at the cinema. How wrong I was!

MiladyDeWinter · 20/03/2010 22:20

I was 20-something and I had a poster in my cupboard when I was a teacher

DrNortherner · 20/03/2010 22:21

Every time I see it I think how badly cast the 2 main characters are. Kate Winslet's character should be hugely posh and more beautiful I think and Leonardo should have been played by an older, better looking guy - more of a mans man.

DrNortherner · 20/03/2010 22:24

Billy Zane is the best thing in it imo.

BitOfFun · 20/03/2010 22:26

I would have had that necklace down to Cash Converters a loooooong time ago if I'd been her.

MiladyDeWinter · 20/03/2010 22:29

I'm a bit about the jewel now. The old lady Rose should have given it to the man who was searching for it IMO as he gave her the opportunity to "back to Titanic" and to die in peace.

And it wasn't really hers anyway, it was given to Rose on condition of her marriage to Cal.

I need a life, it's true.

YanknCock · 20/03/2010 22:34

'Oh and now she is surprised that he isn't responding. That would be because he is quite a bit colder and wetter and more frozen than you.'

PMSL

Was I the only person trying not to cheer audibly when LdC sinks beneath the waves? I can't stand him, he just looks slimy and weasely.

poshsinglemum · 20/03/2010 22:38

YABU

poshsinglemum · 20/03/2010 22:38

But then it did make me cry mucho!

NonnoMum · 20/03/2010 22:45

Changing the subject slightly (and isn't Kate Winslet sooo normal, donja know?) but Titanic was the last film I saw at the cinema WHERE THEY HAD AN INTERVAL!!!
Made me appreciate what a weak-bladdered town I lived in!!)

Kia-ora anyone?

MiladyDeWinter · 20/03/2010 22:54

No interval when I saw it! Where do you live?

I even had to go out for a cigarette during Titanic which was a forerunner to the ban.

Not that it affects me now, I haven't been near a pub since.

Tiredmumno1 · 20/03/2010 22:58

I love watching titanic. I couldnt actually think of a different actress who would suit it better, i think they got it right. It gets me every time
