"Emily thinks some people should try to be nicer."

"John thinks someone is in a mood today and is taking out their problems on him."

"Jane really wants to slap a certain someone."

It makes EVERYONE paranoid to read this kind of status!

Ah well, Mrs Yamada is off to update FB status to 'popping to supermarket'.

ErnestTheBavarian · 15/03/2010 10:39

posieparkerfuckityfuck "Why not write, I don't work and live off my children's father "

Please tell me that this is not your opinion of SAHMs?

ToccataAndFudge · 15/03/2010 10:39

thing is though it's not really much different to RL is it?

I mean if I'm in a bad mood and my friend asks me how I am I don't launch into

"oh I'm p*ssed of blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah"

usually I just say "I'm pissed off"

if she asks more then I'll expand, if not, I won't, sometimes I don't want to expand

YANBU. I never respond to those because I know that what they want is a hundred comments underneath asking things like "Why hun what's wrong now sweetie?" etc.

FanjolinaJolie · 15/03/2010 10:44

YANBU My SIL does this and it winds me up.

'XXX thinks certain people shouldn't judge
her, why not walk a week in my shoes'

It does make me worry initially, and then once I've acertained nothing is drastically wrong I get miffed at the attention seeking mememe stuff.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 15/03/2010 10:47

Totally agree with cider about the cryptic attention seeking messages, I have a couple of friends who do them, like

"Michael can't believe this is happening to him"

Several people ask what's happened and get "It's complicated personal stuff, don't really want to talk about it, sorry"

Why did you post it on a website then??

Equally annoying is the ones where they say they've had fantastic news, and then wait to see how many people ask what their news is before saying that it's a secret. They could have just said in their status "Had fab news, can't share it yet but soon!" or something, but then of course they wouldn't get as much attention for that...

Have you ever read Lamebook?

ToccataAndFudge · 15/03/2010 11:05

"Several people ask what's happened and get "It's complicated personal stuff, don't really want to talk about it, sorry"

I personally find message like that quite useful.........for those of my FB friends who I do want to talk about it with it saves me sitting on the phone for 1/2hr trying to find one who is in that I can talk to

MamaLazarou · 15/03/2010 11:18

Those statuses annoy me, yes... But not as much as the ones with mixed tenses:

E.g; "Claire is really annoyed that Sophie and Jack woke me up at 8am this morning"

It doesn't make sense! Write your status updates in the THIRD person, you loon!

ToccataAndFudge · 15/03/2010 11:20

that sounds like a hark back to the days when all facebook status updates automatically started with

"ToccataAndFudge is"........you had no choice but to use the "is" as it was there automatically lol

BessieBoots · 15/03/2010 11:28

I nkow I'm getting my knikers in a twist over nowt, really. I am too sensitive, and a tad paranoid... But they do annoy me! I spent all of yesterday convincing myself that a nasty status was about me before thinking "But I know I haven't done anything wrong, so if it is about me, it's her problem, not mine, non?

God, I need to get a life

BessieBoots · 15/03/2010 11:28

What terrible spelling in that last post... Apologies!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 15/03/2010 11:32

Toccata, nah the main offender who does the "attention seeking cryptic message that he doesn't want to talk about" is a 27 yr old guy who lives at home in a box room with his parents and spends all his money on starwars models and videogames. His status messages are always about how crap his life is and how he doesn't have a girlfriend, but he never does anything about it.

That's why he doesn't want to talk about it, because he knows people will say "Stop whinging and buying kids toys, move out of your mum's house and stop expecting a girl to fall out on the sky into your lap while you play on the playstation"

Eddas · 15/03/2010 11:38

I do this they're not normally about someone on fb. I use fb to vent. Like on friday my status was

someone this morning commented 'oh your potty training him at last'. He's not even 3 yet so pis off! cheeky cow!

Now, I knew who it was about and so did some of my close friends, but not everyone. I wasn't trying to be cryptic, just vent coz the woman in question had pissed me off, again, and I can't really tell her to piss off. She's the mother of a friend of dd's and we only really speak because they are friends and I wouldn't want to spoil dd's friendship by telling her to get stuffed with her stupid comments!

That's exactly what i did do, but this woman does similar things all the time and really pisses me off. I don't get to see my friends to whinge so I do it on fb, no different to meeting for coffee to do it, but we can't meet up often so I do it on there. And I wouldn't write anything on fb that I wouldn't say to a persons face. Had we not have been in the middle of pre-school (she always does it somewhere where you can't be as honest as you want as people are all around. I could hardly tell her how rude and offensive I find her whilst 20 other mums look on) we rarely see each other in a situation without dc around, and I would never tell her how much she pisses me off whilst her dc are around. So yes I needed to vent.

And yes it did piss me off that much, I have tried very hard to potty train ds, having many accidents, finally we were getting somewhere and then SHE feels she must pass on this comment. I was very annoyed.
