I had ds when I was 16. Still with DS's dad, married now.

Whilst DS was young I lived with my parents, DH went to college and learned his trade (gas fitter/plumber) When DS was 2 we moved in together. 5 years later, along came DD. I was a happy stay at home parent, Now DS is nearly 11, and DD is nearly 6, I thought it is a perfect time to find a job. I have had endless difficulty finding a job because of lack of experience.

I got an interview which was scheduled for tomoz, although now I have to cancel because I asked my mum to have the kids on school hols, understandable she has said no because it will interfere with her friends visiting and her shopping days.

DH is working at the moment and I am starting to feel resentment towards him

I resent how he has gained quals, and I dont have many. I resent how he can go out to work and I am imprisioned at home.

Above all, I resent how he falls asleep every night at 9:30 on the couch

Where IS my life? Is this what I am destined for?

Dont get me wrong I LOVE my children, and I wouldnt swap them for anything am I wrong for wanting to work?

Am I wrong for being pissed off with DH wittering on about his day in work whilst I rot at home?

Wow - you sound so positive - well done.

((told you so ))

mollythetortoise · 09/03/2010 12:47

well done ll!

we cover school hols with my AL/ my dps AL and my mum who has them one day a week when we are not on AL.

I also pay for a 3 day flexi pass for a day camp to cover odd days.

It is fine, not that expensive and works very well.

No reason why you can't do same

Lots of CM's take children school hols only too.

Thanks

It was really easy, I am feeling very proud of myself at the moment.

At the end when I finally managed to escape the constant gabbing (lol) I asked her to let me know what bits I could improve on if I wasnt sucessful, She said the interview went fine and she has no problems at all, she said I have good eye contact, and she liked the way that when I came into the room, I dragged the chair over close to her desk.

I didnt babble once I actually enjoyed myself

She said she has some more interviews to do today, but she will let me know tomoz or thursday, then she said "or it might even be later" Im feeling pretty positive.

And if by any chance you don't get this one, keep that positive feeling and apply for other stuff. Who knows, you could end up choosing from several offers!

Just wanted to say that tax credits will pay for lots of your child care and even if you only end up £20 per week better off that's still better off! The boost to your confidence and self esteem that working will give you is worth so much. Possibly I am telling myself this as I will only earn about £50 a week after childcare expenses when I go back to work after my maternity leave but I do know from past experience that it is worth it!

Perhaps your DH is just feeling a little bit scared of change? Mine is hopeless at dealing with change but fine once it has happened. Bet he ends up so proud of you!

FakePlasticTrees · 09/03/2010 13:17

just to add to the others, even if you don't end up that much better off now you won't be earning the same basic wage forever, this time next year you'll have 1 year experience, so if a pay rise isn't forthcoming, you can look around for other jobs.

Look at your first year working as a training course, as long as you aren't out of pocket, you're just laying the foundations of your long term career.

good luck, hope you get it! And if you don't, at least it seems like you interview well !

Well Done you !
