To wish friends would help celebrate my birthday

Okay my last day at uni is also my 30th birthday- everyone in the group is aware. The lecturers were talking about going for lunch and one of the girls said 'oh its your birthday you should choose' a couple of self centred people tried to say oh im not going there at where I suggested even though when it has been there birthday we've done what they want.
SOOO AIBU?

Well I realise say netmums is offensive but I didn't think it was worth deleting!

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 04/03/2010 13:07

Quint was pointing out her own typo but RRW thought it was aimed at her.

RedRedWine1980 · 04/03/2010 13:09

So you are effectively saying people here are rude/sarky/bad mannered and if I dont like it dont post?

Well tough schmuff really- theres no reason why a specific area of the site should just accomodate rude childish people and if I wish to object about the minority of people who do so I will. Thanks x x x x x

Ermm so telling someone they are throwing their rattle out the pram and are a childish diva nobody likes is being polite and respectful is it?

Thought not! I get the impression certain posters are over argumentative agressive saddos but ive got more grace than to call them this!

I think thats actually the definition of AIBU.

I might have to report your last post its just too mean .

No, wait, I'm 30, not 3, I can take it!

RedRedWine1980 · 04/03/2010 13:19

RedRedWine1980, I take it you're new around here? You obviously don't know MumsNet and most definitely don't know where you have posted!

RedRedWine1980 · 04/03/2010 13:30

'dont know where you have posted'
Oh PMSL have I wandered up on some mafia hideout? You looking at me punk?

OP posts:
ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 04/03/2010 13:30

Yes, that is what I'm saying.

Don't worry about it hun xxxxxxxxx

confuddledDOTcom · 04/03/2010 13:40

Obviously you don't know.

No you haven't, but the forum you've posted in is not the place to go if you don't want to be disagreed with. You are asking people for their opinions on whether you are being reasonable. That should be enough to tell any newbie what they're going to get, but then this is MumsNet!

Heifer · 04/03/2010 13:47

I have this on watch, but now I feel like the child in the playgroup just waiting for the fight to kick off. I know its wrong but I just can't help shout fight fight fight...

So I sit waiting for the really mean upfront Mumsnetters to come along and finish this off..

EVye · 04/03/2010 13:47

What a bizarre thread?

I think a meal out on the last day with the lecturers is a real treat for some of the students and seperate to your birthday which, I'm sorry to say, will be irrelevant for most of them. If you have chosen a venue that they dont like then they dont have to go.

Why do you want everyone there?

30 is a nice birthday but surely you want to spend it with closer friends and not just uni course mates?

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 04/03/2010 13:48

confuddled is right. AIBU is not the topic to post in when you cant handle that people disagree with you. It is not the place to post if you need reaffirmation that your unreasonable attitude is in the least bit reasonable. We tell it straight here.

RedRedWine1980 · 04/03/2010 13:49

Being disagreed with is not my issue- its the petty mudslinging that IS- I thought any eejit who has actually bothered their ass to read what ive posted so far would see that

Anyway im offski- some of you (as heifer has demonstrated) may be gagging for a playground spat to develop but ive got more important things in life to think about!
However hope the next victim takes the bait!

Definitely a newbie. No idea what MumsNet is like. This is a rather tame thread, really.

runnybottom · 04/03/2010 14:17

Hope doesn't have an opinion on BF or working mothers...she's going to get eaten alive.

Sweet really, in a kitten wandering into a bear pit kinda way.

RedRedWine1980 · 04/03/2010 14:20

People who ff are evil. BF mums are pervs.
Working mothers should be shot. SAHM's are brainless.
HTH x x x
