hi my pregnant dd has gone to a bowling ally whith her brother and his pregnant gf ,my dd went to the loos came out and slipped and banged her belly really hard on a sink edge iykwim ,water all over the loo floors ,you would think they would check the loos now and again ive told her to go and complain wwyd

To prove the bowling alley were negligent you would have to show that a) they were negligent, that there was damage caused and that it was their negligence that caused the damage. Of course a toilet floor can get wet - that's why most public toilets these days have a cleaning schedule pinned to a door somewhere - to show that the owners are checking regularly for spills etc. If the owners can show that they check the toilets at regular intervals then what else can they reasonably be expected to do?

Anyway - how is DIL? Was she hurt?

tethersend · 01/03/2010 20:49

mii- shouting now?

Ok, I'll try...

HOW WILL THEY KNOW ABOUT IT IF SHE DOESN"T COMPLAIN?

Why would they clean it up anyway? According to you, bathroom floors are normally wet.

mii · 01/03/2010 20:55

lol this thread is like a bloody twilight zone

there is a difference between complaining and telling them, excuse me there is some water on the floor in there

Bathroom floors are not normally wet, but if I walked into a bathroom and it was wet it wouldn't shock me to the point of needing to complain about it.

Have some personal responsiblility for yourselves people, not everything is somebodies fault

scottishmummy · 01/03/2010 20:56

smashing that a pg woman falling causes you mirth

tethersend · 01/03/2010 21:00

"Bathroom floors are not normally wet, but if I walked into a bathroom and it was wet it wouldn't shock me to the point of needing to complain about it.'

It would if you fell and smashed your face on the sink.

Or would you walk out happily smiling at the manager through broken teeth?

mii · 01/03/2010 21:01

OMG

who is laughing at the pregnant woman? seriously?

I am laughing at how many people seem to think there is a real need for signs to tell them that a floor might be wet or a tap might be hot because they can't figure it out for themselves

mii · 01/03/2010 21:02

But people fall over and smash their teeth

Why is it the managers fault

tethersend · 01/03/2010 21:03

This must make you piss your pants then, mii.

ilovesprouts · 01/03/2010 21:04

yes mii and its not my dds fault, water was all over the floor ,she says she did not see it untill she slipped !! the main thing is they both ok ,ill think twice bout posting for advice on here now

OP posts:
tethersend · 01/03/2010 21:05

Now I am 'lol'ing at the idea that you wouldn't complain and wander off with a smashed face.

tethersend · 01/03/2010 21:06

ilovesprouts, glad your DD is ok.

lal123 · 01/03/2010 21:11

glad she's ok - but just because it wasn't her fault doesn't automatically mean it was someone else's. Of course she should have told someone about it, but as pointed out already there's a difference between telling someone and complaining about it.

ilovesprouts · 01/03/2010 21:14

mii your posts seem like your taking the p*ss anyhow im off for now to go find a nice post ,thanks to everyone whos asked if my dds ok she is called sophie

OP posts:
JaneS · 01/03/2010 21:17

What a horrible thread. In my book, complaining that the floor is wet is a perfectly sensible response. It means that the owners can get someone to clean it up. It doesn't necessarily equate to suing the company to its last penny - which is what you'd think from some responses on here.

Oh, and do none of you ever respond with anything but total calm and control when you've heard of someone close to you having a bad shock and a fall? Cut the OP some slack, she's worried about her pregnant daughter ffs.

scottishmummy · 01/03/2010 21:17

try get some kip,you and Sophie have had a Bad day

glad sophie and baby are ok

ilovesprouts · 01/03/2010 21:17

Some of the responses on here have really made me

How about some compassion?

Glad she's okay. Fwiw, I had a few falls during third trimester (SPD, ice and hip that seemed to just give way!) - my babies were all fine. I was told that as lo's are so "heavily wrapped" it really does take a fairly serious incident before they are hurt.

Saucepanman · 02/03/2010 00:07

I hope your dd is ok and getting over the shock sprouts.
