If she's rhesus negative, she may need anti-D - get her to phone her midwife again if she is.

nickytwotimes · 01/03/2010 19:52

Fuck it.

Yes, whining was wrong term. I apologise for that.

I am just weary of people expecting the world to be devoid of risk then complaining because they can't move for bloody Health and Safety signs.

mii · 01/03/2010 19:54

she was bowling fgs

throwing a heavy ball, down a alley, whilst on a slippery service and she wants to complain about the wet bathroom floor

lololol

Lulumaam · 01/03/2010 19:54

if a floor is wet enough to cause someone to fall, a wet floor hazard sign.. until it can be mopped dry

or a sign on the door saying out of order if it is so wet that it is dangerous

i would not expect a public toilet to be so wet , i fell.

Lulumaam · 01/03/2010 19:56

yes, you expect that part of the bowling alley to be slippery, not the toilet floor

nice to laugh at a pregnant women falling and hurting herself

tethersend · 01/03/2010 19:57

"there should be a sign, saying what?

'this floor could get wet'"

Well... yes

A bit like this. You know, the ones commercially produced for just this sort of issue.

"should they also have a 'this is a hot tap, the water might be hot' sign too?"

Like this you mean?

"where does common sense come into it and the OP doesn't say anything about them not sorting it afterwards or moping it up"

How would common sense have stopped her slipping? How can the management 'sort it afterwards' (sort what btw? Thought there was no problem?) unless she 'whines' and complains to them?

ilovesprouts · 01/03/2010 19:58

cant tell the full story till dd gets home will post more later

OP posts:
nickytwotimes · 01/03/2010 19:59

But perhaps no one knew it was wet?

Oh, ffs, what have I turned into?

I am arguing about how a floor became wet.

With people I don't know.

nickytwotimes · 01/03/2010 20:00

I've already apologised for the use of whine, tethers.

tethersend · 01/03/2010 20:01

sorry nicky, x-post

ilovesprouts · 01/03/2010 20:01

Step away from the keyboard Nicky2X

Hope your DD is ok sprouty

nickytwotimes · 01/03/2010 20:04

Ta.

I feel like a complete tit tbh.

Sitting here getting annoyed.

Jesus, I think I need to get a job or something.

mii · 01/03/2010 20:05

I really can't believe this thread

I really do hope her DD is okay, nobody is laughing at a pregnant woman falling over I fell over at 6 mths pregnant on the ice. I know ice is slippery, I don't expect the council to put a 'ice is slippery' sign up every 100 yards.

Have we really become so unable to look after ourselves that we need a sign to tell us that a bathroom floor might be wet, or that a hot tap might ACTUALLY have hot water in it.

bibbitybobbityhat · 01/03/2010 20:06

How terrible.

I had a nasty fall going down the stairs of a bus when I was 11 weeks pg. The driver braked really suddenly because he was zooming past the stop I had already dinged the bell for.

The bus had to be stopped. Witnesses came forward and gave me their details. The police came. An ambulance was called. I was taken to hospital. I had a couple of days off work and had a huge black and blue bruise across the small of my back (I fell backwards onto the steps).

But little unborn dd was just fine. And the person who scanned me said it was very very rare for a fall or external injury to cause a problem such as miscarriage. The little things are well protected in there.

Hope she is ok.

ilovesprouts · 01/03/2010 20:09

mii she was using one of them roller things and her brother was picking the ball up for dd and ds gf and his pal as well ,not been funny but you dont see the floor wet on a bowling ally and my dd says no sings at all eg wet floor she wouyld not want anyone to slip on loo floor wet on not fgs!

OP posts:
ilovesprouts · 01/03/2010 20:12

Rofl. Sad how it just creeps up on you like that, isn't it?

ilovesprouts · 01/03/2010 20:18

shes 31wks was pg was having twins but lost one at 8 -10 wks !!

OP posts:
mii · 01/03/2010 20:19

ok so lots of people have said they wouldn't expect a bathroom floor to be wet

but would like a sign to tell you it might be wet just in case, or if they know it is wet (which they probably didn't) one of those 'this floor is wet' sign

would you all also like a sign to tell you that the floor outside the bathroom might be wet too? that somebody could have spilt a drink and nobody noticed

EVye · 01/03/2010 20:27

Not a very nice thread really.

Ilovesprouts - hope your DD is ok.

YABU to expect the floor to be completely dry at all times but YANBU to expect someone to clean up the wet floor if they knew about it.
YANBU to ask if your DD should complain. She should so the management can prevent a reoccurance.

Think that covers it

ilovesprouts · 01/03/2010 20:32

shut up mii dd says they was water all over honestly some posts on here !!

OP posts:
scottishmummy · 01/03/2010 20:38

hope your dd ok sprouts.esp after she lost other baby.

mii · 01/03/2010 20:39

if there was water all over she would have seen it before she fell over

AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT IT BEFORE THEY COULD CLEAN IT UP

ShowOfHands · 01/03/2010 20:46

If she does get any pain, the epu is not the place for her if she's 3rd trimester. She would need monitoring. In our hospital it's all in the same place, but worth bearing in mind depending upon your hospital set up.
